Is it really 7 nights you are staying extra??  If so, I think the $800 per person is a phenomenal deal!!

Thats exactly what I was going to say!!  What resort are you staying at for $800/person/week??

Has he done some research to show there are some better deals out there?  Without any proof its really hard to write any sort of angry email to your TA.   Would you be willing to let him write this email to your TA?  Then you could quickly write a followup email saying you had nothing to do with it!  haha...just kidding ;)

That is our quote for the 2nd week to stay at AS, 800 pp, I am trying to explain to my fiancee but he is not in a listening mood.  It is more to stay at EDR for the 2nd week, i think at least 1200 pp it works out to be.  I don't really know what to do.  i don't want to write my TA an angry email, I like him!  hoping FI will chill out and just accept this is the price.

Hey!

I was just there 2 days ago( just got back from EDR today)  I felt it was stuffy and hot at the Zavaz Plaza and we were there around 730 pm.  I knew immediately I could not have a reception there as I would be too hot in a wedding dress, dancing.  The beach was definitely cooler in my opinion, not by that much tho.

Hope that helps!

Did you happen to notice if it was cooler or warmer at the Zavaz Plaza?  I've heard it can be stuffy there since it's between two buildings.  So, I was curious if the beach would be a better location.

I'm sure this is photo overload, but I figured better to share too many pics than too little!   The jpeg of each photo is pretty large, so if there are specific ones you'd like me to send you just let me know the title(s).  I can probably fit 2-3 per email.

Enjoy!

Ok ladies so I have been MIA again. 32 days and I have SOO Much to do. BUT I wanted to let you know that I received my OOT bags today and they are great. Well they are good but for the price, they are AMAZING. I got 75 custom printed lareg jute beach bags with a front flap and a closure for $208 with shipping! I used a site that I haven't heard others mention so I thought I would share the info in case any of you are looking...DiscountFavors.com. Let me know if you have any questions about the bags or the service. Eventually I'll get it together and post my planning thread so for those of you with some time left, you'll get to see the results. :)

I saw your comment about the beach bbq area being the best, private location for the wedding reception... what do you think? I am planning to have the beach wedding & reception and do not have a good idea what it's going to look like. I am guessing they do not want to have the ceremony and reception at the same location... but not sure exactly where. Thanks for the help!

No worries. You will know it when you see it. Say YES to the dress :)

Chong, darling we need to chat! What time is your cermony? Cocktail reception? Reception? And the locations? I just want to be sure we aren't stepping on each other's toes. For example I def want to take pictures on the pier before my reception (and before the sun goes down) but if you are getting married at the beach location right next to the pier I don't want to shoot photos while your ceremony is going on. I want all eyes on you! No distractions! Maybe we can chat about this and figure it out? Also, I am having a 70 person cocktail reception by the pool which (looking at the map) is close to the yoga platform. Maybe Jamie can chime in here and let us know how close. I am sure we'll work it all out but just better to have these convos now rather than later. :)

They played the songs I requested in different order and varied it up a bit.  They added some other songs too (like Shout and the Cupid Shuffle) which went over very well.  I spoke to the MC during the night to make sure they played what we wanted (ie, "time for a slow song", and what I wanted them to finish with, etc).

They did play "I like big butts" which I am still annoyed over - but I should have given the signal to change it.  They played another song I did not like and they saw me give the "cut it" sign and very tactfully faded out that song and played into another.  I think they did a very good job.

Amy, not sure if I thanked you for this but if not THANK you. This is so helpful!

wow, yeah, $800.00 is a great price for a week!  Did they discount it since it was your second week?  Tell your fiance that my FI and I are planning on spending $1000 for 2 Honeymoon nights!!!  I bet that will make him feel better! :o)

Hmm, decisions decisions!!  I guess it all depends on the day, but it does seem the beach is better.  I just didn't want to have to purchase the dance floor.  :(

Thats pretty funny!  I guess it truly depends on that exact night.  I was there 2 days before LoveyDovey and the beach was too windy and Plaza Zavaz was perfect!  Then completely opposite for her.  Too bad we can't put something in our contracts that say "Beach Reception unless wind speeds exceed ....mph".  Wishful thinking.

I'm sure both locations will be just fine.  Otherwise we would hear tons of complaints one way or the other and there wouldnt be so many receptions in both locations.

The good thing about the pool area and the beach is you really would have to go out of your way to see each other.  Its elevated well above head level, so someone from your pool reception would have to go to the edge and look down and over at Chong's reception to see anything.  Depending on how loud your music is, you might be able to hear each other...but thats still doubtful.  I think the onsite team does a really good job of making you feel like you are the only person getting married, so if they feel your locations would interfere with each other, they won't let you book it.

Hope this makes you both feel a little at ease.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
