I am so excited you are going!!  We are getting married at El Dorado Chapel and then reception at AS.  If you see any wedding dinners happening in the restaurants, take a pic for me, I think that's what we are going to go with.  Have a great trip!!

So i just thought I would post my update from my TA.  I need to find out how much our honeymoon week is going to cost!  i asked for premium prices to see if we qualified for the free wedding package and my TA only got me quotes for premium suites.  Just in case anyone wants to stay a week in a premium room at El Dorado it's 3300+ pp, ya right!!  Sigh**  at least there is still hope we can afford a honeymoon, now just waiting for our quotes on Junior Jucuzzi Suite for another week.  I am hoping it will be reasonable as it's just the hotel for another week, our flight home is already paid, and it is our honeymoon, give us a break!!  Wish me luck!  Thanks for the feedback everybody.

Hello Ladies,

I've been MIA so please bear with me while I catch up. Unfortunately, my future father in law passed away unexpectedly last week and I have been tending to family stuff. We have also been back and forth on the road from Georgia so I'm just able to check in. For a minute I was expecting to have to postpone our wedding and/or change plans all together since it was such a shock, but FI is on board with continuing with our plans as is. So,  forgive me if I beat a dead horse and comment on things that have been resolved, etc.

I hope this all worked out when she went back to school. Kids have it hard enough without having to worry about people picking on them.

Funny think is...that purple color is what I originally wanted the 1st time I got married...but I wound up finding these awesome black dresses with fealthers on the hem (sounds awful...but they were really pretty) so..it all changed....

This time....I get to do it right :)

I'm glad you're able to check something off your list. What's next?! woot.gif

So, I'm thining I've never seen the movie (although I thought I watched it in high school) but I don't think it's cheesy. I kinda like it too! Very nice choice.

Very good point, I'm glad that you mentioned this. I wouldn't have thought about that.

My TA has me all freaked out because she keeps talking about how the resort is almost fully booked etc.  (prices are skyrocketing and so on).

Anyone have any insight to share?

I'm sorry, this sounds like an exaggeration to me too. Maybe a little fuel to make people rush to book?

I'm not sure how many of you were interested in lanterns but my FI and I recently went to Chinatown in San Francisco and stumbled upon a store that sold lanterns of all shapes and sizes at really low prices.

Really cute and lots of choices available. I just went with plain round ones but I really like the shapes. Let me know when you go to get your. I may have you pick some up for me too.

Thanks for the comments!  xx

So good to know! Thanks. I was trying to figure out what to wear. I am super short (5'3") and my FI and maid of honor are both over 6'...so I really want to wear heels.

I also asked her how the BGSF promotion worked and she told me it was equal to the lowest booked room category and would be issued as a refund 10 days after I returned from the trip.  By the time my final room payments were due I had a couple of guests cancel so we only ended up with 25 rooms. My detail sheet from the WC at the resort had me listed as being booked under the BGSF promotion.

When we got to the resort people started inquiring about the resort credit, the WC, event manager and front desk manager said they had no record of us being eligible for any resort credit.  I sent my TA an email while we were still at the resort and she said she'd check into it.  Needless to say there wasn't a resolution before all of my guests left.

When I got home I sent her another email asking about the status of the credits and I also asked her when I could expect my refund from the BGSF promotion.  Again she said she'd look into it.  I never got a response so I sent her another email asking the same thing.  This time she replied a few days later and told me she was working on it.  Last Tuesday which was 20 days after we returned I sent her another email and let her know that telling me she's working on it is not telling me what the status is and I would appreciate it if she would let me know the status of the credit as well as the promotion.  She replied on Wednesday and said she had to check with the office and asked if I could give her until Thursday to find out.  I never received a response so on Monday I sent an email to the manager. By Tuesday when I didn't get a response from that I called the office and spoke to the manager who told me she was working on it and would probably have an answer later in the day.  So yesterday I get an email from my TA saying that the office reviewed my contract and found that I didn't qualify for the resort credit or the BGSF promotion because it wasn't written in my contract.  Furthermore, she said I wouldn't have qualified anyway because I needed 26 rooms for the BGSF promotion and I only had 25 rooms.  I hit the roof!!!!!!  If I have a TA and there's something that I qualify for that needs to be written in a contract, isn't it her responsibility to put it in the contract????  It literally took me 2 hours to send a response to her email because all I could think of to write at first were curse words.  This is really unbelievable to me.  I asked her if the resort had me listed as being under the BGSF promotion why wouldn't I qualify for it?  Of course she hasn't replied.  I plan to contact the manager but I was still angry today so I couldn't deal with it.

So to all you B2Bs please make sure any promotion your TA says you're eligible for is written into your contract.  Apparently an email from the TA saying you're qualified and they received approval isn't enough and even if they list on your website that you and your guests will get a credit if they book by a certain time, that's not valid either unless it's in your contract.

I am so sorry to hear this. I would not let this issue go though. I truly believe your written emails are enough to prove you were intend promised these things. Talk to the manager, or higher if necessary to get what you and your guests deserve.

I have been a little frustrated with our TA's too. They seem to take their time to response to everything, emails usually 24-48 hours. And usually I have to go back and confirm things, because they never really answer the questions. Our guests (many trying to book on the last day...sigh) got the TA's voicemail, and thank goodness our TA was a least kind enough to still give them our group rates the day after, but that was their fault for the slow response to my guests requests.

Ladies who have used Lomas' DJ... besides the songs you wanted them to play or specifics like first dance and cutting the cake, did you make a list of others that you wanted played? Did you give them a "do not play" list? How did that all work out? Did you think the DJ could feel out the crowd and change the music accordingly? Thanks!

PS Sorry for being MIA just down to the wire now and have been using my time trying to finish up some projects. I've been lurking here just not posting.

Thanks.

I think suing them is great advice and I'm not letting it go so that may be the last resort.  I emailed the manager but found out she's no longer in customer service so I'll be calling the office the first thing Tuesday morning since Monday is a holiday.

Amanda - I gave them  a list of songs to play to get an idea of what we liked.  About 15 new up beat songs, 5 slow songs, and 10 oldies - and said this is the type of music we like.  ( I emailed this to the WC in Miami and brought 3 copies of that email with me)

They played the songs I requested in different order and varied it up a bit.  They added some other songs too (like Shout and the Cupid Shuffle) which went over very well.  I spoke to the MC during the night to make sure they played what we wanted (ie, "time for a slow song", and what I wanted them to finish with, etc).

They did play "I like big butts" which I am still annoyed over - but I should have given the signal to change it.  They played another song I did not like and they saw me give the "cut it" sign and very tactfully faded out that song and played into another.  I think they did a very good job.

I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
