I'm planning to do exactly the same.  They aren't contributing so theres no formal gift, but we are paying for my parent's to stay one extra night after we leave for their own personal vacation.  Our wedding happens to be the day before Mother's Day though, so its sort of a combo gift.

Instead of getting something tangible to carry to Mexico, you could always look into getting them something there.  Bottle of wine, massage, candle light dinner...

I have parents that are contributing but they are the smallest percentage so i am doing something super simple.

My Grandparents are getting a engraved picture frame with one of our wedding photos in it

Not sure what I am getting my mom yet but we are getting my stepdad a pair on Penn State football tickets for 2011 season since he LOVES Penn State

FMIL - She like the pandora jewelry so looking into that

FFIL - Golfs so new putter for him

Hope that helps!

Hope you all had a great weekend! I was wondering if any of you had suggestions for gifts for our parents. I want them to be somewhat sentimental and I am having a really hard time coming up with ideas. FI has been zero help in this area. His mom mentioned to ME that she needed a new address book (she's very computer illiterate) and that's the only idea he keeps giving me fryingpan.gif! So let me know what you brides are doing/have done. Thanks!!

That's actually a really good idea...I think I'm going to look into that for my mom and step-dad.

For my 1st wedding...we bought picture frames and personalzed them with our names and wedding date for all parents and grandparents.

We'll probably do that for this too...my mom has already contributed...we still don't have a clue what FI's parents are giving (they say they are...but......) regardless if they are giving us wedding money..they are paying to travel to the wedding..so..in a way that its kind of contributing...and i feel worthy of some small token of thanks.

I was thinking of getting another dress, but I really love my wedding dress so I think I will wear it again.  One of the girls on here said the guests really liked seeing her in her wedding dress, and as my 2 grandmothers aren't coming to resort I think I will wear it again.  Also who gets to wear their dress twice!!  I think it will be perfect.  I'm excited to wear it twice actually.  Also saves money lol.

I've got to find something soon!!!  I was thinking flowy beachy dress for Mexico but then saw so many brides with more traditional type gowns so I am confused.  Then to top it off with what to wear for JP wedding...short and cute or flowy or traditional types???  So many decisions!!

My TA just got back from a seminar at Karisma Resorts...she said it was beautiful and service was amazing...food was delicious...she suggested room service for breakfast and late night snacks.  She also said that they now offer free unlimited chair covers for the cremony...I want to double check with her on that one...but I really hope it's true.

Meredith...she had some pics of white chair covers with dark purple bows...looked SO GOOD...I will email you that in a minute...

Meredith...check out Etsy and see what they have as far as personalized address books. They have a wide array of nice ones there that you can have personalized in every way imaginable. I am 100% positive that all of my gifts to the parents, BM's, and GM's will come from that site.

My Dad paid a lot towards our wedding and DH's parents paid for the "rehearsal dinner catamaran".... and we still did not get our parents any gifts.  I did BM gifts and welcome bags.  I will definitely give our parents some printed pro pictures once we get them, but no one I spoke to heard of getting parent's gifts and DH and I were not giving each other gifts, so we did not go the gift route.   Full disclosure: DH and I are pretty anti-gifts.  We'd rather go on vacation or out to eat than buy each other stuff.  And for Xmas, we tell our families to do secret santa or nothing.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
