Yup! I was over the moon when I found out. They don't use Mott's but some other Ceasar mix, it just tastes like there is some added Worshester sauce! cheers.gif

For any of you brides who did their own makeup how did you get it to stay all day/evening in the hot weather? Did you use a makeup fixative spray or whatever those things are called? I go back and forth on whether to try and do my own or get it done at the spa like some of you other ladies are talking about.

FI gave me makeup lessons as a birthday gift last year. It was awesome. I have never been a person to wear makeup, let alone know how to apply it. The lady I did the lessons with does everything from bridal makeup to TV show makeup. I learned how to do the basics, to the over the top fabulous (which I would never use LOL) She also included a 'how to' manual and some great suggestions for different brands of makeup to use, colors, etc. Now I use makeup- lightly, but feel much more comfortable with it.

**The one piece of advice she did give....don't buy a foundation /or powder with SPF in it for your wedding day. Wear a SPF face lotion and then apply foundation on top. The problem she says with foundations/powders with SPF is that with the camera flash you get a white complexion due to the reflection! Thought I would pass that one on.**

I think I will likely do my own makeup, just have to buy some good quality products! But I will have my hair and BM's hair done at the salon.

And I'm a junior member!
Congrats on junior membership! I was so excited yesterday when I got mine.

That's a fantastic tip! Thanks. I generally try and avoid face lotions with SPF in them on a day to day basis (my doctor has told me that SPF carries a lot of the estrogen hormone in it and if you've got a family history of breast cancer excess estrogen is not actually a good thing - - - random info). But I will be sure to get it in the LOTION and not the makeup for the wedding, as I'm sure I'll be needing the SPF down there regardless!

I used Bobbi Brown's foundation, it's wonderful. I told the chick I was going to be in hot humid weather and she gave me the foundation stick and powder they use on set for runway models and photo shoots etc.

As for your son's birthday - Congrats to you!! Happy birthday to him. What a great day to be born. He must be VERY fabulous. rockon.gif

Whoever wanted to know about the wine......

I love wine - I would not call myself a wine snob - but I know a little about it and drink a lot of it. I drink $15 - $20 bottles - which I think is average. Anyhoo, the wine at the resort was GOOD. My Dad and Step mom like good wine too and they all loved it. The Sauvignon Blanc was really good - I wish I could buy it - hint of grapefruit, my fave. The pinot noir was nice and they served it at the correct temperature. I was scared they were going to do room temp/too hot. I also tried the cabernet and that was good too. We stupidly ordered special wine for our wedding from Lomas - DO NOT DO THIS!!!!! No one knew they were drinking anything different from the house wine. Waste of $$$$$!!!!!! We did drink the house sparkling wine too and it was OK, I like mine more like prosecco - so drier - but hey, they poured it like water and we must've drank 12+ bottles at our cocktail reception :)

So much to say but will have to go back and do it some other time. I just got home from work and am baking cupcakes for my son's 1st birthday tomorrow. So bittersweet. The birthday, not the cupcakes:)

Again, I had so much to comment on but here are the highlights:

Old Bay - Glad you all love it. we put it on everything growing up in MD. Makes everything so yummy.

Sky Deck - When I booked you had to book the Silver package or above and add on the Sky Deck. I have since downgraded to the Pearl Package and am still doing Sky Deck. I am trying to downgrade to free package since it is well, free, and it actually gives me more than the Pearl package does. I've sent several emails about this with no response, I am going to take Amy's advice and tomorrow I will just say that's what I want. I am done with asking. It's not like my WC or my TA ever feels the need to respond to me anyway.

That brings me to my next point, I have almost 70 guests coming! You think that they would want to take care of me. But no, I have to ask my TA over and over again to call my guests back. charge them in a timely manner, book them over the phone if that's what they prefer and the list goes on and on. Amy is willing to work more for people who are nice. That makes so much sense. But also being in the service industry, I know that I wouldnt be were I am or have the clients I have if I didn't respond in a timely manner and answer the questions asked. I've told my TA that. She doesn't seem to care. Ahhh...can you sense my frustration?

Chong, you are already on OOT bags? Man, I feel really behind. I have SOOO much left to do. I did. however, schedule my first dress fitting for Wednesday. How long do they usually take? Due to my very hectic schedule, I was planning on taking a slightly extended lunch and going. The dress fitter is a 5 minute drive from work. You think that will work?

Chong, what else are you working on now?

In terms of looking for updated packages...I really use this site as my measure. One of you girls mentions a sweet deal, I try my luck and ask for it. Sp far almost 3k saved. Hoping they will let me downgrade to free wedding package which (after adding on flowers) should be at least another $500-600 saved. I know I'll spend it elsewhere, but better than throwing it away on "extras" I will not use.

In terms of negotiating, Amy you seem to be the master. I asked for a better price on the chivalri chairs but Tiffany my old WC told me that wouldn't happen. They are a must use for me so I guess I will ask,I mean tell, my new WC that I need a better price. Fingers crossed that it works.

Oh there must be so much more but time to hit the hay. My weekend of flights to and from the east coast in addition to 3 parties in 3 days has got me beat. I need to wake up soon to decorate cupcakes and hopefully work out. Ah, why am I so overwhelmed all the sudden? Is this normal for brides 2 1/2 months out. AHHH! I can't believe it's that close.

Deep breath.

Ok ladies....good night!:)
Holy Smokes! You are having 70 people :) That sounds awesome. I have about 35 people... still waiting on few people. It would be fun to see how everything will work out.

I only have few things put together for OOT. I still have few things to buy for OOT but I figure I will start now. My next thing to work is the pre-travel brochure. I am so not excited about it.

I am so ready to be done. I don't know how people have years to plan the wedding. With my personality, this is just too much time to make decisions.

No worries... I am sure everything will come together at the end :) Take a deep breath and start decorating the cup cakes... maybe you are done by now and relaxing!!!

I am so happy to be able to talk to other brides from A.S. My date would be April 25, 2011. I thought things would seem easier once I picked a resort lol, now we seem to have many more things to do, wedding packages, getting guests to pay on time to get the right rate etc. I feel like I might start driving my friends/co-workers and family crazy with wedding talk so i am happy to have this forum, you all know what I am going through!
You can always talk about the wedding with us here!!! It's my place to ask all the questions without driving my friends/family nuts. Congrats on your date and looking forward to getting to know you.

Yeah... something about the dress material will show any wrinkles or skin fat rolling over if proper spanx is not worn. I will have the "padding" sewn on the dress but apparently spanx is highly recommended. I don't want to be HOT. I thought $200 was too much. I might have to look at the department store.
Thanks!

PPS - It's my birthday today and I just looked at my profile thing on the side and my age has changed. BOO! haha
Haha. The To Do's List is freaking me out even more. I keep looking at other's list and decided not to do the list for myself. I got less than 3 months to go!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! elefant.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
