Thanks! You are always full of great information :)

Check out my profile picture!!! I finally did it. What a pain to get this picture up here.

So, she sends me the link. But it's only for USA brides. (I'm Canadian and although my fiance is American he lives here in Vancouver w/ me - but 1/2 our guests are coming from the USA... so I don't understand if we could still qualify). So... she sends me the link to Canadian promotions. And there's a GREAT Canadian bride & groom stay free promotion - - it applies to every Karisma hotel EXCEPT AS!!! aaaargh. I'm hoping that we might be able to negotiate out some kind of combo of the two promotions or something?!?

Anyone around here had any luck with their negotiations with the WC's at Karisma? I just want what I think is fair - since it seems to be offered to almost every other bride. And I'm in kind of a bizarre situation with the Canadian/American stuff. Suggestions anyone? TIA

So sorry to hear this! Hope you get it all worked out.

We ended up finding someone locally in Toronto, who we are flying down with us. His name is Taylor Jackson, and I am loving his work.

I know that when we discussed not using the resort photographers, we were told it would be $500US, and it had to be an approved photographer. Or someone who was staying at resort (although they did not provide how long that person might have to be staying.)

I was told by my WC that they either had to pay the outside vendor fee ($500) or stay three nights. I figured the vendor fee would end up being less, so I was trying to look for Mexican photogs, however, if I really like someone I'll definitely be willing to fly them down!

I think we would be able to use Claudia without the vendor fee, so I am seriously considering her!

One of the things we made was the fake mustache and lips as props for our guest picture book. It was so much fun!!!

Glad everyone who hasn't heard of it is going to try Old Bay. I love it on baked potatoes and chicken too. I've found it in NC, MA, and now Bermuda so I am sure New Orleans has it somewhere! Its the best on shrimp too - I even add it to tuna salad. :-)

I keep checking Claudia's website for my pro pics and still nothing - its been over 7 weeks - I am dying to see my slide show & wanted to show it to everyone this Saturday at the AHR.

I hope you get them in time! Maybe if you email her and let her know you wanted to show them off she'll expedite the process!

Wow, you ladies have been busy. Love the invitations that have been done... and way to go on those premailers Linds! Amazing.

I just found out one of our guests (a friend from work) booked a trip to AS for this week. A last minute sale - she says she'll take pics of anything I want and go check it all out. Anyone have any requests they'd like to pass on? I'll have to think of exactly what I want to know about. I feel like there's so much information on this forum tho' that I don't really know what I'll need her to look into. :-) Still, fun to have a scout.

Speaking of your invites, love them!!! They're very classy and bright. Did you go with the colors shown on Etsy or customize your own?
Thanks for the advice ladies! I will keep it simple. I found some wording last night that ties in with the proposal. It talks about journeys. So, I think I'm gonna use that.

Wendy - we did customize. The gatefold and envelope will be bronze and the bellyband and rhinestones will be purple.

Do you think you can email her and try to at least get an electronic copy so you can make a slide show or something? I'd hate for you not to be able to show off your wedding to the people who couldn't go.

I guess we have to figure out how many bags we can actually check in between two of us.
Didn't you mention that you're going to have a shower or a bachelorette party? Maybe you can bring your towels with you and give them out of others to bring then.

My main concern is the food. Ask her to take notes and tell you her favs.

Question... did you guys wear spanx under your wedding dress? My designer is telling me I MUST wear one in order to look flawless under the dress... but I am not sure where to buy one. He knows someone who sells nice spanx and costs around $200. Do you think it's too much? I don't want to buy a cheap kind and end up regretting when I see the pictures. Any recommendations?

Chong - Don't act like you don't know me if you do see me!! Lol.

Spanx? I know you can get them from Saks, Dillard's, etc. I don't think it should cost that much. I would say it may run you around $100 max for a good pair unless he knows something I don't. There are knock-offs that may not work as well but if you stick to the Spanx brand you should be fine. There's also a brand named Flexees (Macy's) that are pretty good too. Looks like you need to go undergarment shopping and see what's the most comfortable for you. Bring them with you when you have your dress fitting and see which works best.

Check out ShopStyle for Fashion and Designers - Shoes, Jewelry, Dresses & Clothes and type in Spanx and all the different styles and where to buy them will come up. HTH!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
