BUT..I'm thinking it is possible she might be overcharging...my sister has a TA friend and tried pricing out the hotel for the same days and it was A LOOOOOT less. Did any of you switch TAs and is there any special etiquette for doing it? It comes down to price for me...and I don't want my sister's friend to do all this work for nothing...so if she can save me $$$ I would switch....Thanks

If she can't match it, I would say go with your sister's friend, since your guests will appreciate the best prices available.
Yup, negotiate with your TA and see what she can do. Booking with DW.com comes with other perks and promotions, so if you like what they're offering outside of room price, that could offset the price.

Otherwise, switch TAs. There's no harm and you're perfectly within your right to do so. There's no special etiquette involved; your DW.com TA will know it was b/c of price.

Come to think of it, I'm surprised pricing is already out for 2012. Lucky you getting an early start!!

I didn't go through DW.com like a lot of the ladies here did and I am not getting perks like having someone negotiate prices for me. My TA however is great and got us a really good deal and does come to my rescue when I'm not getting my way so I stayed with her. My #1 reason for even getting married in MX (St. Thomas was our 1st choice) was price for my guests. So I guess it depends on what you're willing to sacrifice. I can say that if people know they can get it cheaper somewhere else and still come, they will, and that may wind up hurting your perks in the long-run anyway.

I used The Wedding Holiday. THey are DW specialists and none of our guests could find a rate better than what they gave us. But if in your case they did, I would mention that to your TA.

It was exciting but I was sooooooo nervous!!! I had a shot of Patron and two glasses of red wine to get me amp'ed up to do it! And even then you will see this nervous tense look on my face at times. I just kept thinking how excited FI would be to know I thought enough of him to do something special that took me out my normal box. :-) It was so hard to just let myself go and while my friend was really comfy and funny during the shoot, I kept finding myself trying to stay covered up! It was weird, almost like I didn't want to offend him by flashing him! LOL I went to HS with his wife and I kept trying to be "respectful" of her. LOL They are by no means the best of work and he's just starting out and I think it shows in some of the photos (or maybe it was just me). :-) Check 'em out!
I wanna see!!!!! You may have sent me the link but my inbox is full. I will empty it now1

Just saw them and wrote you back with my favorites! I love them, I don't think you look nervous at all, I think you're a very pretty girl and your FI is going to adore them!

How funny, I had a patron shot and I think 2-3 glasses of wine... my shoot was over 4 hours long! I brought my BF with me who convinced me to go topless and eventually naked... don't know how she managed that one but I'm happy I did it. That photo ended up going on my photographers blog smile41.gif you can't see my face or any parts but I think I fell out of my chairs when someone pointed that out. :)
Just got the link to my book!! WHOO HOO! That picture of you is HOT!!!!! You should blow that up and hang it in FI's closet! haha

And I still get to marry the man of my dreams on the beautiful beaches of Mexico, so I'm beyond ecstatic about that! I was head over heels in love with Azul Beach, and yours and Wendy's weddings were SO beautiful and amazing there, but things happen for a reason :)

So our back-up plan is probably going to be Barcelo Maya Palace. It's a HUGE resort...the complete opposite of AB...but my TA has a lot of good things to say about it and I love that there are different options for the more budget-conscious guests. We'll just see where the road takes us!

I hope you gorgeous ladies have a great holiday weekend...don't set anything on fire with all the explosives around...I'm gonna keep my hose handy just in case!
I LOVE your attitude!!!! I need to take your road...the high road...and stop pouting about everything that goes wrong. Good for you!!! I know your resort will be sooo wonderful...but like you said, you will be marrying your FI on a beautiful beach in mexico! What more could you ask for??

I'm going to do my BD shoot in October/November, which gives me a few months to whip my butt into shape and firm up some of my jigglies!
You can do it!! And you will look beautiful! He loves you for YOU!! In my book I was going to have her airbrush any "jiggles" or blemishes or whatever, but in the end...I decided not to. Like I said, they love us for who we are...imperfections and all!

I also figured if we started buying OOT stuff now, we could save alot of cash. So anywho, that's where a huge chunk of my posts lie, with the exception of this thread! ;-)

If I can do it, you can do it! I know it is totally a personal choice, but I am sooooooo out of shape and still carrying baby weight from giving birth years ago! I started losing weight shortly after I had her and then the death of her father just took me over the edge. Because I was busy tending to her needs, I ate everything in site to cope. I just came to terms last year with the fact that I'm an emotional eater. But I'm working on getting back down to my pre-birth baby weight. And it's been way too long and I have no more excuses!!! Probably TMI, but I tell you all that to say if I could show a little skin, I'm sure you'd be alright! ;-) I didn't go totally nude because I was too embarrased of certain "problem areas." But I said if I lost all the pounds I wanted to, I'd do it again later and get a little more adventurous!

I sent it to you! It was a great experience, but I needed the help of patron and a glass or two of wine to calm me down! ;-)

I don't know anything about that new resort you mentioned, but I do have my fingers crossed for you that your transition from AB works out better than you planned! Have a great 4th as well!!!!

I too have alot of problem body areas. Drives me nuts! But at the end of the day, I tell myself that those are the things that make me, me. And if I don't change them, it will never happen. And like you said, if your FI thinks you're beautiful.....well then that's all that matters! My FI will not expect it either and will be totally shocked!!! We did them when he was out of town for work, so he will be completely caught off guard.
You are SO right! AND most of the time...those areas that we think are problem areas, our FI's love those areas the most!!

We shot his session at his house believe it or not in his room. It was actually really comfortable, his wife was downstairs and she's the coolest chick ever. Those two are so cool and accommodating, I can't recommend him highly enough.
Yes, he is wonderful!!!

Our wedding day was actually the only day that we had not one drop of rain. We didn't think we could get married on the beach the day before our wedding, because it was sooooo windy, but the night before the wedding coordinator told us it would be great, and it was. It was the most beautiful day ever and I want to do it all again!
I"m so tired right now, so I'm going to be short, but all I can say is it is a FANTASTIC place to get married. No one has any reason to worry at all. I will post pictures as soon as I get some from friends. If anyone wants to add me on facebook to see pics, please do (meghan yao!)

we used an ipod and it was amazing. I would not spend the money on a DJ. The wedding coordinator acted as an MC, but my brother did as well and he was amazing. We also did not have to operate the ipod. The sound system guy did. Sound system was fantastic! I was quite impressed actually, and I good music was really important to me. Everyone danced and rocked out right till we were cut off at 11.

It is Zavaz Plaza. That is where we had our reception, and we had the blue glasses as well. We asked to have that other thatched roof area, but they do not allow people to use it for private events anymore.

I think it is $9 per covered chair, and $4 dollars for each bow. Not sure what the cost is for uncovered chairs...maybe $4?

we didn't have additional lighting, and didn't need it. The sound system is $250, but we rented it for an extra hour and a half to take us to 11 pm for another $75. $325 in total....super good sound!
AHHH Meghan your pictures were absolutely beautiful!!! You looked like a gorgeous DOLL!!! CONGRATS MRS!!

I started out with dw.com but switched later. I noticed too that they were a lot more expensive. However, if you like your TA, just send her the cheaper options you found, and she should be able to match it. I even sent my TA now some cheaper options on Orbitz and she matched. IF you are looking for a new TA, I HIGHLY recommend Wendy Hicks @ BDW (Wright Travel Agency). SHe is SO SO SO SO SO SO AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, you are so right about the perks. I think having a good agent with a competitive price is CRUCIAL!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
