I'm not sure what everyone else is doing as far as packages, I'm having a hard time deciding. I feel that it may be best to start with the Pearl package and pick and choose add ons. Maybe more bang for your buck?

Has anyone used the photographers the resort suggests? I hate to pay the 500 extra just to use one from outside. Also, my girls are wearing blue sapphire short dresses and I'm having a hard time deciding on the guys. My DH wants them to wear linen pants. Any thoughts?

My guys wore white linen pants and they looked HOT. My new sister in law loved her husband (the best man) in them - she thanked me for choosing them so she could have him wear them all summer wink.gif I think it matters more what your FI is wearing. Is he wearing linen pants or a suit?

We too are going with the cheapest package and adding on, especially since we have selected an outside vendor photog. I don't know of anyone that has used the resort photog, but then I am also new here as well. I wish I could help you with design/colors.....but I am horrible at that type of thing. :-) But you are in luck and in the right place because some of the other ladies here RAWK at just that very topic! :-)

We've got lots of time and are nowhere close to booking or anything...but I have already been OBSESSING over these message boards and have found so many helpful tips and advice that I can't wait to use.
We are planning on February 11, 2012...and I can not wait.

Nice to meet everyone and hope to talk and learn from you all soon :)

Thanx,

I am actually really embarrassed that I know what this means. One of my co-workers uses it all the time and it annoys the mess out of me. It makes me want to scratch my eyeballs off! smile41.gif With that said, KWIM means "Know what I mean?" Yeah, all that explanation just for that. smile35.gif

I didn't until i googled it. Ha.) and plugging in little pictures of the flowers that I am thinking, etc. This way I can try several options and see what they look like. Thing is, I am cannot find a "clean" picture of the sky deck...that is one without a ton of people or one with just simple chivalri chairs. I would use photo shop to take things off the pics but I am so not a tech person. And that's where you all come in. Does nayone of a picture of the sky deck sans people, preferrably without a ton of decoration or one that has chivalri chairs as opposed to covered chairs? Here's to hoping. Thanks so much!!!!
I'm gonna check... I may have an empty Skydeck photo, you can always as your coordinator, they may have one too. Also, making an inspiration board really helped put everything in perspective. Maybe not specifically just on the ceremony location but in general.

I agree, Pearl package and customize it unless you find a package that has everything you want, nothing extra.

Have you read through the thread? I could have sworn someone did...

As for the guys, what are your colors, sapphire blue and what else? Do you want a beachy feel or more formal, classic or elegant?

I have seen that on the forum many times and never ask for some reason... GOOGLED IT, KWIM - stands for Know What I Mean? YES! You learn something new every day around here :)

Hey Ladies! We have been at the resort for 3 days now....and it has been crappy weather...but it is a beautiful resort. We flew into a storm. It is getting better each day, so please, please, PLEASE, keep your fingers crossed for us that it doesn't rain on Thursday! Even though it has been raining a lot, it is still super gorgeous. Our travel agent, The Wedding holiday, was super nice and got us a private cocktail reception (not at our expense) so that was a lovely surprise when we met with the wedding coordinators today.

I will keep you updated as to how everything goes...I am in my room as I have had a little too much to drin'k!! lol it is my bedtime.

In any event, I do not think you will know the menu until you get to Mexico. If you use that meal for your reception, know it is not a private event and I am not sure the extent they can decorate for you. There will also not be an area of rmusic & speeches designated. Of course if you have a small group, you can always do speeches at the table - and Azul will give you a private area of the dining room - you just dont get the entire thing.

We had our welcome dinner yesterday. It was a set menu, which we could not change, but it was delicious and everyone loved it! THey spelle dmy last name wrong on the menu cards that were set out at each place setting, so they brought in a harpest to make up for it. They are wonderufl and fixing mistakes and compensating you. We had a cesear salad, potato soup, and choice between chicken or beef, and cheese cake for dessert. Everything was soooo good, except for the cheese cake, but we just went and got different desserts from the buffet.

I have been gone for sometime, but have a question for you all. My wedding is in Dec, and I am trying to get a lot of my planning done now because I coach college volleyball and our season is from Aug-Nov so I want to get as much done as possible NOW.

Anyways, anyone who has been married there, I am thinking of having my reception in the area by the pools and I was wondering if anyone had had their reception here, if so, what kind of lighting was supplied if any. I am not wanting big center peices and I remember one bride saying she didn't have center peices and they put candles on the table anyways. There is a thatched roof structure and I was wondering if they put any lighting under there or do I need to ask(and pay) for that. Thanks!!

That is where we are having our reception if the rain stays away. They don't provide additional lighting unless you pay for it. I have heard they put tea lights out as well, but my online wedding coordinator told me they cost money, so we brought our own anyway. We are paying for tiki torches to provide additional lighting.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
