I must say that if Amy didn't get what she wanted with the time she had to get it, I'm thinking we may be disappointed. It really aggravates me that we are paying so much extra (for the Sky Deck) and I'm not sure about you but I'm not really using the stuff that comes with it (i.e. the programs, bouquet, hell I'm not even using the officiant). I just feel like they could at least do this for us.
If you already have them booked for the ceremony, you could try to negotiate on site to move them to the reception area - ie tell them you're wiling to pay more cash for the set up fees for the hassle of moving them. When you have your meeting with the onsite and Lomas coordinators, you pay any balance you owe (spa services, extras, etc) and you also have to pay their set up fee (determined at your meeting depending on everything you have for them to set up). The set up fee must be paid in cash. The rest of the balance I paid using a credit card (only Visa & MasterCard). The WCs probably pocket the cash - so maybe you can sweeten the pot for your coordinator who might be willing to bend the chair rules for a hundred bucks or so? Maybe worth the try??

I don't think they will move them all for you to be perfectly honest. You can try but I wouldn't risk betting that the onsite coordinators will change their mind. =(
That's what I was worried about. I guess I'll just book them for the ceremony and try my darndest to get them to move to the reception. I just gannot pay 1500+ for chairs. FI would die!!!

I know, I feel the same way. But then again. AS is so not willing to budge when it comes to money, I'm not really all that surprised. Please keep me posted on your head way them and I'll do the same!

My thought exactly. I'm booking them for the ceremony and will totally bribe to have them moved. Thanks for the advice!

About the invitations....I sent out save the dates almost 2 years in advance, and sent out my formal invites in February of this year. I did not send invites to people who had already told me they were not coming. I thought they might actually be a bit annoyed if I sent them a formal invite after they had already said no. I sent invites to people who had said yes or who had not responded/decided yet.
What did you put on your save the dates to get those that wanted to go to book or let you know?

Very good advice, Amy. I have no doubt the onsite teams pockets the cash so I'm sure they wouldn't mind a little extra. It's a good gig they've got going.

Orignally we were looking at with flight and 5 days and 4 nights - 2 people to a room $1000 a person. What are they quoting you?

I think I remember you mentioning a few months ago that you might move to Austin after your wedding. Cool! Funny, I've come across quite a few people lately who have moved to Austin from LA, wanting cheaper prices and a break from the West Coast.

Oh how nice of your mom! Whew, what a relief :)

Well welcome! Are you here all weekend or just today? I don't think I realized you live in Houston.

Come all you potential Austinites, move here! LOL I'm so jealous of the larger cities (like Dallas/FW, Chicago, Jersey/NYC brides) and their BDW meetups! So far there's only one other Austin bride on here that I know of. I'm on a mission to recruit more!
I LOVE Lake Travis!!! And Austin!!! Such a cool town :)

I was able to get reassigned to a new DW.com TA, Karilyn Barnett, and I freakin' LOVE her already!!!! We spent two hours on the phone the other night and she has revived my enthusiam about the wedding and the AS. My previous TA was gracious enough to send a "best wishes to you" email to us, which was kind, yet akward. Anywho, we are moving along and I've got an alchemy out on etsy for our STD's. I am actually feeling behind the curve ball, because we officially have less than 12 months left, but it is what it is........

Anyway, I just wanted to stop in and say hello and wish you all a fantastic weekend!!! xoxoxo
That's such great news!!! Hiring my TA Wendy Hicks was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Such a relief to have someone so helpful. Seriously girls, if anyone has a TA that is more of a stress for you rather than a resource, you should look into finding someone more helpful!

I just decided on a Honeymoon location! We are staying at the Excellence Playa Mujeres Aug 28-Sept 4. It looks so awesome. Secrets Maroma was about the same price, and thats where I thought I would go, but I really fell in love with the Excellence. I am using a friend's TA who is great, so much better than my crazy wedding lady. She said any sale any drop in price we will get, no need to rebook or anything.

Have a great weekend everyone! I will be working on my planning thread this weekend. I need to do it now or else I will just forget everything!
AHHHHH that resort is FABULOUS! My friend just got married there!

I have report cards to finish right now, as well as finishing last minute wedding stuff. I can't believe after 2 years I am only 2 weeks away!

I always emailed...never called, and I found emailing was fine.

can't wait to look at your pics, but I am heading out right now for my bachelorette party...I know you look gorgeous anyway!

SO glad it is working out!! You don't need any of that unnecessary stress! BTW all your photos are so gorgeous!

I think these resorts rent those chairs from an outside company. Maybe they own the chairs for the wedding, but have to order more for the reception? Who knows! How much are they charging you for the chairs? Maybe you can try to talk them down on the price if they will not move them for you. I think I am renting my silver chiavari chairs for $5 per chair. Surely they can help you on the price. $1500 is ridiculous!!!!! fryingpan.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
