I have not heard of any bride doing that option. Do you have the list of the set menus? Its cheaper than the pick & choose.

I added a salad course to my surf & turf dinner. It was $4 or something extra. So, if you want to change the set menus it can be done (for a price).

Suzanne...your pictures are so amazing! That photographer was worth every penny :) I'm so glad to hear you had a wonderful wedding, and am so frustrated for you that they tried to mess up your reception venue. I just. don't. get. why they have to make such a big deal about the "size" of the party, especially since they only do one wedding per day and it shouldn't matter which location you use. Right? It's not like it's going to be reserved for another bride!

On a side note, I'm getting the photography thing figured out, which is a HUGE relief. I also decided that I am for sure doing a BD shoot here in Seattle. My FI always jokingly calls me a "prude" and I want to prove him wrong! There's an amazing photographer downtown who will do a 90 minute shoot with a 40-page album (re-touching included) for $500. Seems expensive, but that's what I was going to spend on a wedding gift for him anyway, and this way we both benefit! Now...just gotta lose that last 25 pounds before November...AmyBermuda, I'm starting the 21-day eat clean diet on Monday!

You go girl! You can do it!!! I am telling you, I felt great on that diet. It took about 3 days but once I adjusted, I felt fab.

Oh and they only have 3 restaurants at Azul Beach - so they dont want one booked off for like 20 people when there are 200 staying at the resort, cramming into the other 2 which are very small places to begin with.

We had our reception in Chil - but they didn't want to close the restaurant. We were told this was an option during our site visit, told Tiffany and everything was okay until a week before the money was due. It got pretty ugly because they basically were accusing us of lying that we got this information from Francisco during the site visit b/c he had nothing in our file about it. But we had no idea that he was no longer the on-site person, so why would I make up this elaborate story? It ended well, but I was livid. We also got married on a Tuesday and a bunch of people left that day, so when we went by Blue to/from our reception, it was only 25% full. And honestly, you meet lots of the guests at the hotel, so what jerk is going to be mad that one of the restaurants is closed one night for someone's wedding?

Suzanne, YEEEEEEEEA!!!!!!!!! Welcome back! I've been waiting for you! pinkie.gif

LOVE your photos! You look so happy :) Makes me all teary-eyed remembering our wedding there just a few weeks ago. Man I miss that place!

Haha, I saw you have pic taken in front of David Luau's in PM. Did you actually eat there? Our photog took us to lunch there and the pizza was really good!

I agree with you, isn't the service at AB just amazing?! I mean, they really do go above and beyond. I have so many examples where they just blew us away with what they'd do for us.

Stay tuned for my official review...it should be up tomorrow!

We went to the El Dorado Royale and stayed at the Casitas - it was wonderful too! Completely different from AB - since the place is HUGE, but we had a lot of fun. I will say that we had nothing but amazing service at both hotels - I don't think I could go to any other AI resort b/c they have ruined me! (For example, Blue Terrace had a buffet and a la carte for breakfast, if you do the buffet and go to carry your plate back to your table, someone will stop you and insist that they carry your plate for you!!)

I don't mind a quick storm, actually makes for some neat pictures, just no monsoons please....
No worries here. AmyF was worried the entire week up until leaving because the forecast called for rain every day. As far as I know she's had blue skies every day!

BTW for the AB brides, the backup rain location is actually quite beautiful.

Celina, $500 for a 90-minute shoot and 40 page books is an AMAZING deal! Go you!

How do you know she has had beautiful skies? What weather forecast are you all looking at? I would think weather.com would not be the best b/c its not local (I know that weather.com sucks for bermuda weather - we use weather.bm for example).

So actually, the resort was at capacity while we were there. Our wedding was on a Saturday night and we had our reception on the Blue Terrace. Let me tell you that there was PLENTY of seating available inside the restaurant the entire night. This whole bit about not letting you use the Terrace b/c it closes down their largest seating area and is a hassle for the other guests is a load of BS. We never once waited for a table in any of the restaurants our entire trip!

Chil and Tainan are small, but Blue both inside and out have tons of seating. In fact, sometimes the Terrace and Blue International have different menus, so it's kinda like there are 4 restaurants.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
