I started to make some moves... I am struggling with the location too. Did you pick a photographer yet? I see many suggestions but I am not sure what to do.

I decided to downgrade my Silver Package to Pearl Package. We really wanted Silver package for the non-private dinner reservation but I decided to have a private cocktail party instead of dinner reservation for "rehearsal dinner". Just an opportunity to mingle and meet everyone...

I see that you are in New Orleans. I am in Houston. I do travel to New Orleans often for my work. Thanks for the help and keep in touch!

No problem. I got engaged in December, but I joined BDW and only really started planning like 2 months ago and I have gotten MUCH more accomplished since I started keeping up with the posts. Just look at pics of other weddings there and go with what you like. I, personally, don't like the way sand gets everywhere, plus I found really hot wedding shoes, so getting married on the beach was out for me. It's just all about your taste and your vision for your wedding.

I chose Andrew Jordan for my photographer. He just did Wendy's (taylorwd) wedding and he's really easy to work with so far. So look into him if you want to bring someone with you.

I wasn't really going to use a lot of the stuff offered with the Silver pkg so I went with the Pearl pkg too. Also, if you're doing a private cocktail party try to get it free (of you haven't already). Someone posted a link for a promotion that offers a free private cocktail party for 50 and they actually honored it for me, so it's worth a try. I deleted it, but I posted it a few weeks ago. Maybe you can go back and find it, send it to your coordinator and see what happens.

Are you working with a travel agent?

Yeah, I'm in N.O., born and raised. What do you do that you travel here?

Hi Chong -

I am getting married same day but on the Sky Deck and I am having my reception at the Zavaz Plaza (I think that is what it is called). I am also doing a cocktail reception prior to probably in the same area or the pool deck.

Hi,

Just a question...I was never offered a pool deck for any of my events. Does it go by another name? Do you have pics of it?

Our travel agent has been working on getting everything sorted out for us. We can't use Claudia as our photographer anymore, but they got someone else from her team...still not pleased, but can't do much and at least we like her team.

We still don't know if we can have the same location for our ceremony and reception...when I talked to my TA yesterday her response was...."we are working on it and will let you know monday". Now I'm having to deal with many of my guests calling and asking what is going on and complaining about all of this. People are telling me to demand a full refund and cancel the whole thing! They don't understand that we have planned this wedding for 2 years and we will be out money if we cancel and book somewhere else...some people are even saying to cancel and do a wedding in toronto!! I really don't want to listen to other people's complaints about this right now. I think I'm gonna have Matt call our TA today and tell them that they need to give us some more info and they need to start contacting our guests to let them know what's going on.

I am so sorry you had to change your date. I know to the outside world (non-brides) it seems trivial, but wtf.gif For something that dramatic to happen when you've been planning for 2 yrs, I just can't even imagine. You have to follow your heart though. Now that you've been set on Azul for 2 yrs can you really just turn that off?! I've only been planning there for 2 months and I can't imagine changing now. Don't stress about what everyone else thinks. I do feel like you are entitled to some serious compensation, but to change it all could turn out to be extremely stressful.

I love sands!!! We are sooo excited about wearing sandals and let it loose :) We are also excited about lot of candles at night on the beach. sounds romantic and fun!!!

Hmm... promotion for free private cocktail party. I will look for that email. Thanks for the info. I have Gayle Hirsch as my WC. She was also WC for Amy.

I am in Oil & Gas business... I have been traveling a lot to NO since my project is in NO.

So I am guessing you already found your dress? I have my dress and bridesmaid dress all figured out. Started to look for my future hubby's clothes - all white. This is going to be challenging. Let me know if you know a place.

We're actually still having a pretty traditional wedding (as far as attire goes)although it's a destination wedding. I traveled all the way to Atlanta for my dress, it's by Eugenia Couture. My girls' dresses are from Mori Lee (style #266) and the guys are renting tuxedos from Men's Wearhouse who by the way have been very helpful with making the tuxs original. If you find dresses you like just look for their authorized retailers and see what's close to where you'll be.

DH found his off-white linen suite (Calvin Klein) at Men's Wearhouse. There's plenty of them in stock right now. We got ours at the end of the season last year so it was on sale for only $130. They have plain white ones too.

I thought we got the best deal... it's about $160 per person per night for the Jr Jacuzzi Suite at Azul Sensatori after the group agreement (20%). We booked through the destination wedding. Anyone got better deal? I am curious...

I am reading all the past blogs... This is painful but yet very very helpful. Just wondering what you did for the welcoming bag. I am struggling to find the gift that is not too expensive and be able to pack easily in the suitcase. Any thoughts? By the way, congratulations. based on the date, you are married now :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
