Don't worry about not having started the planning process yet. You've still got lots of time. DWs work on a different schedule than regular ones since most of the planning is done through the resort. I'd start off by contacting your WC at the resort and asking him/her for advice on where to start. They'll probably ask you some initial questions about your wedding (budget, colors, themes, etc) and then will give you some ideas to help get the juices flowing. You can go as simple as their packages or add on to your heart's content! Just be prepared for the cost as Karisma resorts aren't known for being cheap or bargaining.

There's another bride on this thread (Crista Lee) that's getting married at AS in November, too!
Thanks for the tip!! I'll do that when I'm off. I work overnight so getting things done is kinda hard sometimes.

His parents were the main ones saying, "Just tell us when and where and we'll be there." When we finally booked the date and paid the deposits is when his dad made the comment that he didn't want to go to Mexico to get shot up by drug lords! WTF?

Anyway, it's all straightened out now. They're all on board now (I had to give them a geography lesson). So let the planning begin! Now where to start is the problem!
HAHA! My mom told me the same thing... "you know it's very dangerous down there now with the drug lords and all the murders" I had to explain to her it's like us being afraid of something going on in NY while living hear in LA... it's so far away!

I'm glad you have it all sorted out. Just do one thing at a time and you'll be fine :)

I went and bought a bunch of Thank you cards( not the bulk kind, big thank you cards) and Kenny, my husband had made a video compiled of all our pics of the wedding with music in the background. So were making copies of put the video and sending it all who attended the wedding. Im just wondering if anyone else had any unique ideas on how to thank everyone who comes to mexico?
Amy I think that's a great idea! I was thinking of sending a video or a photo etc. I hadn't put too much thought into it quite yet :)

Honestly - get used to people saying stupid sh*t like this to you! One of my BMs was telling people while she was here visiting me how expensive it was, my best friend's mom was saying how DW's are selfish.... I mean, it just happens. My advice is to try and stay calm and dont take it personally. Everything and emotions are heightened when its your wedding, and sometimes its just a foot in mouth kind of thing.... I actaully told people after they said stuff like that, "listen this is my wedding and so I knowmy emotions are higher and I am more sensitive about this stuff, but I really need you to support my decision to have a DW and if you have any issues or comments if you could just bring them to me only." It really worked!

Good luck and welcome to the forum!!!!

What are your colors?
I had a really hard time deciding on colours, I was torn between pinks and blues. My BM dresses ended beiong hot pink, so I've decided to just go with a tropical colour theme - pinks, blues, purples etc... I've decided to not worry too much about it. No matter what, it will look great...

Good for you rising above and being honest about your feelings. I'm so glad they listened to you. But, Grrrrrr, I'm mad for you right now! LOL. I know you've moved on but hearing about it now when people say stuff like that just makes my blood boil. You've got me in your corner, albeit I'm thousands of miles away!

Hahaha, my dad was the exact same way! He's on board now and is one of the most excited people, I think, but he amused us with his worries of being kidnapped or killed.

That is a great idea! You're very nice to your guests. Since we're taking our guests sailing in Mexico, we figured that would be their "thank you for coming/ we're so happy you're here."

Speaking of which Wendy, thank you for the referral to Paradise Catamarans. We've booked a private morning catamaran snorkeling trip for our guests as a thank you gift to them. Mark was totally awesome to deal with and was so quick at getting back to us with everything. I can't wait... I've read so many great reviews and all of the "special" wedding surprises they do... although I don't want to know what those are until we're on the boat!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
