Oh and KittenHeart.....I'll be in LA for my bachelorette party April 2-4th. We're staying at shade in manhattan beach. I hope the weather is nice by then! I know April in LA can be hit or miss. I lived there for 5 years before denver and a lot of my friends are still there!

I'm getting a free dinner for 40 people after the wedding that is "semi-private" They curtain off part of a restaurant which is fine with me and then we're going to go party at the mojito lounge after. I was at el dorado royal for vacation in october 09 and the DJ let us hook our ipod up and dance the night away. I talked to some people at the hotel and they said there may be a live band for awhile early and then after 10pm there is a DJ and it shouldn't be a problem to hook our ipod up.......obviously up to the Dj of course, but I'm just gonna wing it and I'm sure it will be great fun no matter how it turns out! We have a group of 40 people going so we'll bring the party with us!
Well you've officially broken the mold when it comes to AS brides, glad it's all working out so cheaply!

I'm doing a private dinner reception and using my 40 person meal for a farewell brunch the next morning. I'm also having the Sky Deck which requires the Silver Package now in order to book (I'm pretty sure) so I pretty much have no discount except for that at this point, except my TA was so bad that he accidently underbooked us our 8 day stay at AS and left off over $2,000 on the quote, LOL... dumb luck I guess!

Oh how fun!! The weather should be fine, maybe a little chilly at the beach but you'll have a blast. I've never been to Shade, looks super chic, definitely my kinda hotel! Are you going out down there to bars or clubs or do you know yet?

It is called the "bride and groom stay free" promotion. If you are getting married at any of the Karisma resorts I'm pretty sure it applies (which it looks like you are Azul Beach). The promotion is that if you book more than 5 rooms, everyone in your party gets 20% off the rack rate and the bride a groom stay free for an average of the # of nights your guests stay in the same room category. For example, I have most of my guests staying in the jacuzzi jr suites and they are staying for an average of 4 nights. So.....we get a jacuzzi jr suite free for four nights. We are upgrading and using the credit to get the credit towards a honeymoon suite. I also think you get 20% off all services like reception, dinner etc. Did you get this deal? If not, you should call the hotel directly and they should give it to you. I just asked and they said it shouldn't matter if you have a TA. Good luck!
That promotion is available if you're using a TA. I'm using that promotion and actually it was my TA who told me about teh promotion because I had no idea about it. I also had a promotion through destionationweddings.com that gave me a free room upgrade. My TA said I could use both but I'm still kind of skeptical of that one. I can't see them giving anyone both but we shall see!!!

I am also getting this promotion but I was told you need 16 rooms booked for the bride and groom to get a free room. So we are getting 20% off our room. So are you getting a few nights few and 20% off? Did you book through a Karisma TA? We are also getting 20% off our private reception.

Wow this is really frustrating... I was NEVER offered any promotion by DW.com.

Can you explain the free sweet wedding package to me more. I thought the Free Sweet Wedding Package was only at the El Dorado hotels not at Azul Sensatori.

Ah ha, now I see. I was confused b/c my "Bride and Groom Stay Free" promotion that I got when I booked did not include this 20% off room rates nor could we start earning free nights until we had well over 15 rooms booked (I don't remember the exact #). Mine includes promotions currently not listed on the website, but I see this promotion started with weddings booked between Dec. 23-Apr. 15. The fine print on this one does say that to get this promotion you have to go through a TA, and that every room you want to include has to be booked through the same TA. Interesting the resort is saying something different.

We're also getting the Free Wedding Package and the Honeymoon and Anniversary Package, so I can't complain too much.

Erin- That is amazing you're only paying $100!! I agree with AmyKH that you've truly broken the mold.

Hey Erin thats the same weekend as my bach party too! We are just having it in Bmore since the wedding is a destination, but should be fun. Are you doing anything particular for theme? My sister is having me dress in a wedding dress and all the girls in bridesmaid dresses - how hilarious! I am going to salvation army this saturday to look for a 1980 besuty wink.gif

Just had a 45 min convo with travel agent who almost cried. Turns out my friend was a little harsher than she admitted to: demanding who her boss was and who owned her company.... Lovely...... Don't you just love wedding stress ??

AmyKH, it's possible you booked so long ago that at that time, dw.com didn't have some of the promotions they now have with Karisma. frown.gif I know that we were the very first couple to book their room rates promotion, and we didn't sign with Karisma until Sept. 2009.

You should call your TA and ask. The worst they can do is say no!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
