Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

Hair Question for you all - what are you doing? I'm getting married at AB, but am curious what the AB and AS brides are doing.

I think I read somewhere on here the onsite hair dresser only realy could do updos. I have very, very fine hair. When I am in wedding, I usually just have get it blowdry so there is a little bit of body - the last two weddings I was in I had great people that did something more interesting - but it was all them, i.e., I sat in the chair and told them to do whatever they wanted. (Last wedding, the woman seriously played with my hair for an hour). If I get an updo, because I have no hair, I look bald. So, I not sure if I should try to do my hair myself, or if I should plan to have the hotel do it. I just don't want to spend $125 on something that won't work for my hair.

Thoughts?

Suzanne, me and my girsl got our hair done at AS. I got an up-do while the other girls did half up, half down and my sister did a side pony tail style. My one friend has very short and fine hair and they did a good job of adding volume IMO. They had books to choose from and then if we didn't like what they were doing we stopped them and asked them to change or fix it. In the end everyone seemed happy.

Thanks Amy :) I hope you manage (somehow) to get all this drama sorted out with the rooms...if only they'd all listened to you and booked early!! maybe now they'll all pay attention when you tell them to do something! but seriously, you must be mega-stressed with it all so I really hope you're ok and you're not close to a nervous breakdown. xx

It sounds like you know what you're own hair does and doesn't do....you could take a photo of your hair from the other wedding where the hairdresser volumised it, so the hairdressers in MX know how your hair CAN go....usually hairdressers can recreate really well.

Or... just have a trial done when you get there and then you know beforehand if they can do your hair how you like it and you won't need to worry.

Or....get your hairdresser to do your hair with your BMs/Mother/MIL with you so they can learn how to do your hair on the day. Can use this as option one, or as a back up plan!

Good luck!

Suzanne - I am getting my hair done at AB. I like being pampered and I would rather let a professional do my hair the day of my wedding. I am getting a trial run done here at home and going to take loads of pictures for the Mexico person to copy. I dont really have a set idea of what I want - so I feel like I can have my hairdresser play with me for an hour until we get it to look like how I like it the best.

I have heard AS brides do trial runs before the wedding - you could also try that if you have the time!

Less Is More, I would pick a set menu for the reception. They seem to work out a better price. Also, you get a dessert with the set menus so you dont need to have a cake.

I originally wanted to wear my hair down, but I have heard from other brides that it is super windy and hair will blow in your face. For that reason, I am most likely going to have an updo. I have heard that the hair dressers do a good job if you go from one of their ideas as opposed to bringing in a picture of what you want.

Suzanne,

I'm having AB do my hair the day of and also am having a trial once I get down there. I didn't want to spend the extra $ on the trial but my hairdresser here said I'd be crazy not to! She convinced me that it would be some of the best money I spend, if nothing else for peace of mind come ceremony time.

Hi -

I'm a new member and I just booked my wedding for 10.10.10 at Azul Sensatori. It looks great but reviews I've read online are mixed and I am starting to get nervous.

Has anyone already had their wedding there? Or even visited?

What did you think about the food? We're expecting 80 guests so I'm planning the private reception. I just want to make sure the qaulity and taste of food justifies the cost.

Please let me know!

Thanks!

We have about 20 people going. Max 22. We're getting the Open Bar option but are iffy on the food.
Do you know how much the transfer will cost from AS? Thanks

Hi Amanda, welcome to the thread! Although time consuming, I would highly recommend reading through this entire thread. A lot of your questions were once our questions!

A quick sum up:

Food is amazing, ignore trip advisor as people are more likely to post when angry, service is great, my guests loved the resort!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
