The pasta dish is not on the menu. It is a vegetarian dish. We originally wanted either 1A or 1B from the menu, and that means you just get one meal choice. Since we have more than 5 vegetarians, they told us they would not make that many alternative dishes. So they emailed me to vegetarian pasta dishes that we could get for $11 (that was the price when I first booked...I think the cheapest price is now $12 or maybe even $14). So, instead of having the chicken or pork, everyone is having the pasta option.

These were the vegetarian options we were given:

1. OVEN BAKED “CAPPELACCIâ€,STUFFED WITH SPINACH AND
RICOTTA CHEESE,ORANGE,TOMATO SAUCE

2. “EL ROYALEâ€PENNE PASTA,WITH SAUTEED
SHRIMPS,PEPPERS AND CILANTRO IN TEQUILA-LIME SAUCE

We are having the oven baked cappelacci.

If you are interested in either of these, I would suggest emailing your coordinator and asking about vegetarian options.

I had this same issue and feel that I was forced to have a private reception. Its ludacris that they are so unaccomidating with this issue. Esp when your wedding is bringing the resort so much buisness....
I have 31ppl with the pearl package and ended up getting a private reception. So, it really just depends on where your at with your planning , how flexible you are with winging it, and how you want your reception to be and how many ppl, because you could always just plan on having your reception at a resturant, and just wing it when you get there and then throw $20 to the hostess , it can go along way at a resturant when trying to seat a large group(aka reception) :)

Right now we have 12 rooms booked which is 21 adults and three children, and we have 4 rooms pending which would add another 8 adults. So I guess around 30 people would be a good guess. My TA is talking with the resort about our options, so we'll see. We decided to go with the pearl package, when originally we were going to go with the silver package, so not sure if we can add on the restaurant reservation. We'll see, it's difficult not to stress about the financial aspect of all of this. I agree that it seems rediculous that we are all paying for an all inclusive resort yet we have to pay for our guests to eat when a wedding is involved.

Bouquet toss: "Don't Stop Believin" Journey (this cracks me up so much I might have to do it)
Cake cutting "When I'm 64" The Beatles
Last song of the night needs to be epic like "Faithfully" Journey...

He is so busy with work, I have been doing it all myself, which has mostly been online research. Do you know of any of those brides that didn't have a planned private reception going into the trip, that I could chat with about how their reception turned out? I am also wondering how to do music, I would really love dancing, but again don't need a big DJ, just thought I would bring my IPOD. This site has been a life saver so far, I am so glad I found you all!

Sam
I did not do a private reception. I had a small group of 9 + a baby and just couldn't justify spending a fortune. I pretty much "winged" the entire thing and it turned out great! Feel free to PM me!

I think I mentioned this a while ago. I got the vanilla cake and it was pretty dry. We all took one bite just to say that we ate some and then tossed the rest.

Sam if you are not too fussy with details, I'd say you would probably be ok turning up at a restaurant and just ask for a table for you all....or even better, wait until you get there and talk to the people in the know! lol I know this is not ideal but I'm learning quick, you get a lot more your way when you're somewhere in person than over email....again, that is if your nerves can stand to wait until then! Good luck :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
