Thanks this was very helpful. We are thinking of doing an catamaran trip instead of a welcome dinner. Are you doing the drink & food option?

Picking the "perfect" destination has been so much harder than I expected. I have been very heavily researching countries and resorts for the past 6 weeks (feels like years), and I'm pretty excited to have picked Azul! I have never been there before, so reading everyones reviews has been extremely helpful.

Does anyone have any pictures of the garden gazebo they mention online? I've only seen one picture and it looks like it cant hold more than 10 guests?

Any other random tips for this first stage of the process?

Thank you all in advance!
Jaime
Welcome Jamie! Great choice!

My best advice is to make sure you pick a good TA - if you're using one.

Yes we're doing the drink option. We're undecided on the food. The pictures of the food look sub-par to us, and there's such great food to be had at the resort. But, we don't want people to go hungry either.

We'll be sending out an evite for this sailing trip in a couple weeks. When people reply they'll have the option of telling us if they want the open bar option. Not everyone in our party drinks, so this is a good way for us to only pay for those who want it.

You should drive down the street and BRING you wedding party to the Sky Deck and watch it in person :) I may not have enough seats for you all since they're $16 per chair, LOL!!

Awww, I'm sure if you have someone video it or send her ample pictures she'll absolutely love it :)

I heard! Sorry for the bad weather, it's my fault. I prayed that it would be freezing while I was gone. At least you didn't get the 25 feet of snow I prayed for!

Good luck with your application! The garden gazebo?? I don't even know what that was. I'll have to check it out and then look through my pics for you.

What is everyone doing for their focal songs?

Meaning...

Bridal party (processional) aisle song -

Bride aisle song -

Wedding party (recessional) aisle song -

Reception entrance song -

First dance song -

Father/daughter song -

Mother/son song -

Cake cutting song -

Bouquet toss song -

Garter toss song -

Last song of the night -

Let me know too if I'm forgetting a category :)

ooh, my songs! This is what I have so far:

Bridal party (processional) aisle song - "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

Bride aisle song - "Here Comes the Bride" by Bobby Morganstein (the island version--very upbeat and tropical!)

Wedding party (recessional) aisle song - haven't fully decided yet, but leaning towards "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz

during the sand ceremony, we are going to play "Wind Beneath My Wings." Both of my FI's parents are deceased, and this was their song, so this is our way of including them in the ceremony

Reception entrance song -

First dance song -

Father/daughter song - "Butterfly Kisses" (my dad had this song picked out 10 years ago :))

Mother/son song -

Cake cutting song -

Bouquet toss song - "Single Ladies" by Beyonce

Garter toss song -

Last song of the night -

that is as far as I have gotten...I want to include "Smile" by Uncle Kracker somewhere, but not sure where yet. My FI and I are thinking about doing a goofy first dance--has anyone seen this video? We are both goofballs, and this is our style, lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
