Looking for a Riviera Maya Adults only Wedding

Recommended Posts

I am looking at several possible locations on the RM and would love to hear comments on anyone who has already done site visits and had their wedding there. Possibilities include Secrets Capri, Eldorado Maroma, Excellence Riviera, Iberostar Grand, Ceiba del Mar. Any other advice would be great.

Important to me are: Food, Wine, Beach, Understated Elegance and of course price for family to attend.

I didn't get married at Secrets Capri but I went there for a few days after my wedding. They are off the charts excellent. You pull up, it looks fabulous, you walk in and wow, the ambience is spa like, relaxing, and very classy. The customer service . . . wow. Very nice, helpful, english speaking personnel. My room . . . I have never stayed in such an extravagant room. We had trouble getting through to room service but if that happens just call the front desk and they will patch you in no problems. The food was excellent! All the restaurants were great! Its a smaller resort so easy to get around. A great big roomy beach for lounging, swimming, walking. The pool was very nice. Saw two weddings there. One was a larger wedding on the beach with private reception poolside and the other was an intimate wedding with just the couple at the poolside gazebo. Both were lovely. The night life there isn't all that but they do have a daily 6pm shuttle to Playa del Carmen for some nice shopping and restaurants. Senor Frogs was way fun.

Sorry I don't have pics but their website sums it up :).

Good luck!

Thanks - I am going for a site visit at the end of June and our date is October 4th but I will post details of the site when I get back. Right now I will be seeing the Iberostar Grand, Eldorado Maroma and Secrets Capri.

i am getting married Oct. 9 at Aventura Spa Palace... I haven't actually been yet, but based the decision on A LOT of research and recommendations. I can tell you this though - every question or request i have had regarding any issue (major or minor) i have e-mailed my WC and she has gotten back to me within 24 hours with answers. And if she didn't know the answer, she has sent my e-mails on to someone else at the resort to get the info for me. The customer service has been incredible so far. smile159.gif

DanielleNDerrick - i hope you don't mind if I PM you for the pics/info as well? I'm already booked and paid for, but i love getting the confirmation that i made the right choice!

I am getting married at The Royal in Playa Del Carmen on August 14th. I can't believe that we leave in a month! We have seen so many beautiful pictures and read so many great reviews that our choice was easy. The cost was reasonable to fly from Detroit and it was an adults only resort, which was important to us. They do allow children for the day of the wedding if you need that, and their sister resort is right across the street. The sister resort is a family resort. Anyone who stays at The Royal is allowed to use all of the facilities at The Gran Porto and if people stay at the Gran Porto, they can pay for a day pass at the Royal if they wish. I'll be posting a trip report shortly after we return. We will be staying there for two glorious, relaxing weeks. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and I will try my best to answer whatever I can. Good luck with your planning!

Sarah:

i am so excited for your wedding! i'm dying to read another review about a wedding at The Royal. Are you getting married on the beach? Where will your reception be?? Are you using an outside photographer, and if so, is there a "penalty" so to speak?

Thanks! Kelly

Im getting married at Aventura Spa Resort as well. I have not been there but my mother has. She absolutly loved it there. Everything about it seems amazing. I picked it by reading trip advisor reviews and looking at pictures. I think it had a perfect rating on trip advisor. There arent any bad reviews.

Also the whole staff seems to be great so far. They have many options you can choose from to make the day your own and you also have the choice to bring your own materials at no extra cost. This is what I probably will do to cut some costs.

If you need any information on the resort let me know I have all the menus and options. Just pm me with any questions.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
