Your Favorite Natural Skin & Hair Products (SLS/Paraben/Chemical Free)

Recommended Posts

I've been slowly eliminating synthetics out of my life after reading a really informative book. Once you know what to look out for it's amazing how many of your everyday products are potentially harmful!

Do you have any favorite natural soaps, lotions, shampoos, conditioners, etc. that do not contain parabens, sodium laureth/lauryl sulphates, or phthalates?

I really like the virgin coconut oil and creams made by Tropical Traditions, it's great for skin. I like some Alba products too. I keep several types of shampoos, lotions, etc. to have variety (I've heard it's a Gemini thing LOL) and I'm looking for more natural goodies because I can't get enough!

Sometimes I make my own stuff (olive oil & sugar makes a great body scrub) so if you have recipes for homemade products bring them on!

Fellow Gemini here, and hahaha I've got so many products that FI calls my bathroom a convenience store. I too absolutely LOVE Alba products, especially their facial cremes. Do you use the line in the green bottles or the orange/green oneshuh.gif

FYI - I just bought a Alba gift set at Costco on Monday, and it was only $18!! It had body and facial scrubs, body butter, a cleanser, body lotion, and chapstick from what I remember. I think there's more but I can't remember. Anywho, it was a really good deal I couldn't resist =)

One thing I've been using faithfully for about a year now is Palmer's Olive Butter because it keeps my skin so hydrated and smooth. Don't know if it's chemical free, but it works great. Palmer's cocoa butter is also good to use too, smells great but sometimes feels too greasy for me.

A fellow Gemini product junkie, thanks, MarieSam! LOL

I use the green/yellow Alba..I think it's Hawaiian botanicals? They have so many lines! I love Palmers but I do think there is something in there that shouldn't be...but olive butter just sounds good! And the cocoa butter I want to eat by the spoonful it smells so god. I'll look into them again.

I do keep those little push-up sticks of 100% cocoa butter on hand always, definitely greasy but I put it on at night. They don't smell nearly as good as Palmer's though sad.gif

Cinnamon and rosemary are great for the hair. I always try to buy shampoo/conditioners with these as their bases. The more natural things in your hair, the better.

I love glycerine soap.

Also, I'm a huge fan of this line of shampoo/conditioners. They also offer other great beauty products, all natural, of course. The hair care stuff smells delicious:

Nature's Gate, I believe I used to have their Jojoba shampoo/conditioner. You're right, it smelled great and worked well too. Thanks, I'll have to check out their other products!

OK I've always been under the impression that Aveda products are all natural and free of the crap? At least that's what my stylist tells me? Was I wrong to believe her, anyone know?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
