Been to/stayed in Pedregal?

Okay girls here's the deal: we want to rent a villa and have a catered dinner after the ceremony for about 30-40 ppl. from what i'm hearing, the rental companies will charge a site fee for you to host a "reception" which i completely understand, because i'm sure in the past people have trashed the place, etc. the thing is, its just a dinner, so no dj/band/photog/florist, etc. i guess pedregal is gated? do you have to check in, how do they know who to let in? my question is, if we have friends staying in a hotel, can they come up to the house? I was hoping we could just book a caterer anyways but if they have to check in, i'm sure the gate will know we haven't paid a site fee?

I know I sound crazy, just trying to get this all straightened out. I couldn't get ahold of someone at Cabo Villas today, do you think they'd be the most flexible? i'd certainly be willing to put down an extra deposit, but dont want to pay a bogus site fee for nothing if i dont have to.

If you've stayed here, let me know your experience. thanks!!!! happy friday!

I have never stayed there so I can't say but I think I read on their site that with some villas you can only have a max number of people over. So for example if the villa sleeps 14, you can only have 14 people their max (even if they are just their for a dinner and not to stay overnight). I could be wrong about this but hopefully once they contact you they will answer all your questions for you. Good luck with everything.

I have lived in Cabo and used to teach school in Pedregal. The housing development up to Pedregal is gated, but I have never had an issue getting in. At the gate house, you tell them where you are going. If you know the person's name or house name they usually let you in.

There is currently a chain at the bottom of the road where the guy just lowers in and waives you through. This chain will be moving in a month or so when our property Capella Pedregal opens completely to the public as they have added a gate there to the tunnel to this particular property only.

Catering I would use Lazy Gourmet. I have no idea on villa fees for trashing as I have only been to friends private residences there.

I stayed in Pedregal in March during Spring break. We rented a villa and they were pretty strict on the amount of people staying in the villa but other than that it was no problem. I think ours had a max of 10, and we actually had 13 people staying there but in the end it worked out. There were 2 other villas also rented nearby by other friends of ours.

As long as you know the name of the house and the address they guard will let you in. We had vans of people going in and out at all hours (spring break) and it wasn't an issue.

Also, one of the houses did get pretty destroyed, at least by my standards and I think they just didn't get their damage deposit back.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
