Why ROR?

Recommended Posts

Since I came on this board I've realised that RIU Ocho Rios is extremely popular. Why is this? Meaning there are other more popular resort areas and many ,many resorts. I'm just curious. Those of you who have already got married there and those who are going to: Why did you choose ROR?

I personally felt that the RIU chain offers the best value for your money. The Sandals resorts looked nice, but seemed very pricey! I also liked the wedding packages and options available at the RIU. I originally was looking at RIu Negril, however after some research, I found that Ocho Rios seems to have more activities and excursions available for our guests. Also Negril doesn't offer the free wedding package. After looking on here and seeing all of the photos and great reviews I was sold on ROR. I figured it was better to go with a place that most people seemed pleased with. For our honeymoon we are going to Couples Negril, so we will get to see both sides of the island1

I chose ROR b/c I had parents coming that are divorced and didn't want a couples only resort where they would feel uncomfortable. ROR was more fun had more excursions and cheaper for our budget. My DH is a student and didn't have tons of money to throw around for a wedding. It was a perfect fit!

I chose ROR for almost the same reasons. We stayed at the Riu Negril once before, but I wanted to get to another part of the island.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
