I'm pretty sure this is what happened in Multnomah County (Portland) in Oregon. The Oregon Supreme Court overturned it. But I think the California Supreme court ruled to allow same sex marriages right? I don't know if anyone could overturn it since marriage is a state recognized thing right?

well, i just remember the other thread about this, jamy was saying something about that. but that anyone married during the time it is ok, would be like grandfathered and it would still be valid.

I think this is cool, I love how happy everyone looked in the pictures, love that there are so many people there to support them (especially the picture of one of the brides' old mother right there with them), so cool. I was watching a video on CNN about some guy who disrupted a wedding to protest it, I'd get so mad if someone tried to stop my wedding, stupid ugly people.

You actually have any faith left in our government? You might want to read about the San Diego lawsuit over the removal of the Mount Soledad Cross. It's been in court for years, and a couple of years ago they finally put it to a county wide vote - 51% required to get the cross to stay.

The day before the vote some Judge says "no, I think it should be 67% instead" so they change the rules.

The vote comes and 78% of San Diego county says "leave the cross". So the Judge says "well then, that vote was unconstitutional".

Luckily the cross still stands....and the Lawyers continue to get richer.

You can read a lot more detail about it here, if you need something to put you to sleep one night:

I'm so happy and this is long overdue.

With all due respect to this issue which is obviously near to your heart as a San Diego resident, I think it detracts from the point of this thread which is the legalization of same sex marriage in CA.

Some people do still have faith in the government, if even a little bit, and I'm not sure that knowing about the Cross lawsuit in your city would change that...but I digress, this thread is about equal marriage rights for all and it seems we all agree this is something to be celebrated :)

MUCH better news for those who have been waiting and waiting to marry the person they love.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
