That would be annoying Courtney.

Is anyone else really nervous about what kind of mom they'll be? I am so nervous that i really won't know what to do with a baby. everytime i go to babies r us for a baby shower gift, i just stare at the shelfs trying to figure out what stuff is. I always feel so clueless when i'm in there.

I worry I'll be the "bad parent", since DH is a big kid himself.

I totally adore my neice and nephew, but there are times when they do things that their parents (and grandparents) ignore that I know I will have a hard time letting go.

I have a 18 month old daughter; she was born before we were engaged (we were just friends who were too afraid to admit our feelings for each other... oh, and had sex).

I was told that I would not be able to get pregnant on my own (this was when I was with my ex-husband) due to the severity of my PCOS.

Things with the ex weren't that great so I wasn't too worried about the difficulty about having a baby.

Fast forward 3 years...

I'm pregnant. Oh, and I was 30 weeks along when I learned I was pregnant!!

Long story short; me getting pregnant wasn't something we planned on and seriously considered putting her up for adoption, but it's been the best thing to happen to us. And, we're talking about Baby #2 in the future - when Baby #1 is 3 years old, I'm going to come off the pill.

In a way, we started our relationship backwards: Baby, fall in-love (well, admit to each other that we were inlove with each other), get married, buy a house.

Sorry if the post is slightly off topic, just wanted to share what life can throw at you.

Our daughter was an oops! that I could not imagine not having. She came during my last year of nursing school, so that made things difficult, but we made it work. We planned our son, and actually started trying when we went to Cuba for some friends wedding, as they were going to start trying then too. One shot at it and 9 months later we had our little boy! The friends that got married have just finally got pregnant and are due in Jan.

If things don't work right away, don't stress about it too much (I know, easier said than done!), but not only is there a 12 hr window for the egg to get fertalized, it has to attach to the uterus and implant through the uterine wall. This is all a very difficult process, so even though it may only take once, it may take several more times.

As for those of you that are worried about being a parent, things just happen naturally you will do fine. Spending time with other peoples kids is not the same as having your own either. Whether you start TTC before the wedding, right after the wedding or you wait awhile, make sure it is when you and FI/DH are ready and don't let anyone push you to do it. Children are a huge responsibility and a lifelong commitment, so you have to do it when you are ready.

I was previously married and have a son who is 15yrs old. My FH has 2 children. He has said pretty much that he doesn't want more children. I personally don't care either way. I feel like if it happens it happens. Children are a blessing. But, if he doesn't have a vasectomy before we get married it could definitely happen, as I am not on nor do I plan to get on bc (I'm 37). It will be our first time as I have been celibate for years so he better watch out!msnwink.gif

To say it all we did everything backwards. After 6 years we are finally getting married. My FH and I had a great dating period and then a month later .... yes a month later... Christmas morning no less... Noah happened. It was a complete shock to us... but we went through it, even just still getting to know one another. (hahaha sounds sooo smut reading book huh... LOL...) But it all worked out and we had some BIG kinks. We bought our house 2 years ago now and finally taking the next step November 8th!! YAY

i think i am ready, but it really freaks me out. i know he is ready but it's such a big decision to make. i don't think i want to start trying right away, maybe 6months after we are married. i like the idea of having our "alone" time first but on the other hand i don't want to wait tooo long either.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
