One-time use camcorders on each table at reception?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I saw this on the Knot of placing one-time use digital camcorders on each table at the reception ~ much like the disposable camera practice. Each camcorder holds about 20 minutes of footage, and after you've collected them you send them to the manufacturer and they send you an edited DVD. Sounds pretty cool, and surprisingly it's not too expensive $100 for 5 cameras!

I am definitely getting a videographer to document our day, but I guess this a unique way to capture the guests' point of view and it seems like a great way to document guest reactions and personal well wishes during the reception.

Have any brides or brides-to-be tried this out? And if so, how was the quality of the video? Do you think it's worth ithuh.gif?

That sounds like a cool idea but I guess my only thought is that I would have to sit through a lot of shaky random video stuff that guests start taping when they are drinking. Especially since it's disposable I wonder about the quality of video and sound. It sounds like a cool thing but I personally would go without if I was having a pro videographer. When we went down for a site visit recently we video taped a lot and I was so nauseous watching it cause even though we have a super top of the line camera I was moving it all over the place. Just something to think about. I think you have a better chance of getting fun guests stuff with disposable cameras.

Hahaha, you ladies are right ~ I guess you kinda take the risk of leaving it in the hands of someone else and their "creative vision" hahaha smile117.gif. Either way, I would definitely still get a professional videographer, I just kinda thought it sounded like a cool idea that would capture another dimension of the wedding idea.gif

i think its such a cute idea - but knowing my FI's friends, i'd end up with quasi-porno videos. I would totally do this though for the actual ceremony and ask guests seated in different places to take video. If I only had some extra money now haha

I think its a good idea but for me a def no no - half of my guests are squaddies and i dread to think what they would do with them - I've been at parties where all they have done all night is take pics under girls skirts with their cameras lol you end up pointing them out for them after a while lmao

Although I'm having a great photog at my wedding, I know she won't be able to be everywhere at once, so I'm def. gonna do the disposable camera thing too and hope for the best!! Maybe putting table numbers on the cameras will at least let you know who may have took the pics in case you get some "surprise pics". lol

smile120.gif that's hilarious! Luckily our guest list is tight with only very close family and friends (still 100 peeps, crazy huh?) And to be honest I can't think of anyone who would bless us with such "attractive" photos. LMAO. But then again, getting drunk at a wedding does strange things to people...hmmmmm...

LMAO at the idea of wedding reception soft porn. That's a nice twist to the average wedding day video coverage. lol. =) But you're right, having them at the ceremony sounds like a great idea, that def. might be an option if I decide to try this out. =) And Maura, I totally feel you on the extra money issue. FI is constantly questioning the growing costs for all my DIY projects and inspiratins - the need to make OOT bags, ceremony program fans, etc., and when I brought up hanging name cards on starfish he looked at me like I was freaking nuts! <sigh>

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
