Barceló Maya Colonial Beach

Recommended Posts

Barbo,

You have to do one of the packages that will let you eat outside EVEN if you want to eat at one of the grills. We did the ocean scents and we were happy with this choice. I also did not want to be in an inside room. We did not do anything when we got home so we were ok with spend more money on are guest down in Mexico. I did post some pictures somewhere on this link.

Happy planning.

Let me know if you have more questions smile29.gif

I was just wondering if anyone knows about confirming your wedding date for 2010. Right now my fiance and I have May 3, 2010 on hold but need to send in our flight/accommodation itinerary in order to CONFIRM the date. I emailed Claudia awhile ago and she said that they are making an exception and will give us until the 2010 wedding packages come out, but she also said something about how it's usually five months from when you reserve the date. So does that mean that the itinerary is due when they come out with 2010 packages or will it be due 5 months AFTER the 2010 packages come out?

I have sent her an email but it's been almost two weeks and there's no word from her, any help would be much appreciated!!!

Go to Xe-hal. We went there for a day and we could have gone for more. It has amazing snorkelling, it is stunning, and we absolutely loved the view of everything. The park is huge so you can do almost anything there. We suggest going early in the day, we arrived at 8:30 a.m. right when it opened and there was hardly anyone else there for like 2 hours. It was great.

Hello Barcelo Colonial brides!!

I am wondering if you would be able to help me out... my FI and I originally fell in love with the Barcelo Maya Palace, but the prices came back pretty high... so I started to look around but really nothing else struck my attention like the Barcelo did.. so I looked into the other Barcelo's. I think the Colonial is very nice, but I need some help making my mind up. (And some reasons to give my FI for why we should choose this instead of the Palace lol)

Can you tell me what made you choose the Barcelo Colonial over the Palace? Was it the price? Or something else?

Does anyone know if there's any other options for the ceremony other than the beach? (My dad is in a wheelchair so the gazebo at the Palace was what grabbed our attention).

Also, I can't seem to find many good photos of the Colonial, do any of you have any good photos you wouldn't mind sharing?

Thanks so much!

Cara

Hey Cara

My FI fell in the love with the Palace also, but after doing a lot of research, we ended booking at the Colonial (price-wise, it was more in our price range). I've read that MANY people were more than happy with the Colonial/Tropical and that it was more fun. Apparently the Palace can be a tad on the stuffy side. I definitely recommend checking out UNOFFICIAL BARCELO MAYA | Your unofficial guide to Beach | Caribe | Tropical | Colonial | Palace this site has all the information you need about the Barcelo and their forum has tonnes of questions regarding which one to stay at. Also keep in mind that the beach in front of the Beach/Caribe is supposed to be the best - may be important to you, I know it is to me!
As for wedding locations, I'm not 100% sure what else they have, but I'm sure you can find it on the unofficial site.
Anyway, I hope that helps..if I made any sense as to why we chose Colonial!
Also check out tripadvisor for traveler's photos - I find those to be the best ones!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
