Barceló Maya Colonial Beach

Recommended Posts

For brides who have already been married at the Barcelo.

I am planning a wedding for May 2010 and I'm trying to get as many ideas together as I can. Do the wedding coordinators send you pictures of your options for the cake, flowers, decorations, etc or are we supposed to just send them pictures of what we want? How limited are they with the choices?

Thanks for your help!

I have a question that needs clarification... Some resorts say you have to be there 3 days before the wedding, and some (incl. the Barcelo Maya) say you have to be there 4 days before the wedding. Which is it? I want to get married on a Thursday, but if we get married at the Barcelo with the 4 day rule it seems your only choice is the Friday... unless you come a whole week earlier and have your honeymoon first. :S What are other brides doing? We are planning on having the legal ceremony.........
I'm getting married on a Thursday as well. Didnt realize it till after we booked the date that we had to be there 4 days ahead of time for it to be legal. But I spoke to them and they said it was fine.

Does anyone know if you can change your wedding package after you have booked it? Right now I have the Sea breeze package but have been thinking about the beach packages.

Does anyone have any pros and cons between the 2 packages.

  • 2 weeks later...

I thought that you could only get married in the gazebo if you got married at the Palace?

We have booked at the Tropical and booked the Seabreeze package and thought it was the beach locations only for the weddings.

If I am wrong let me know as my fiance would love to get married in the Gazebo instead of the beach.

thanks,

Tamasin

Does anyone have prices for 2010 yet?

Tata, I orginally wanted to do Ocean Scents but when I priced it out for around 50 people I can save close to $3000 to do Sea Breeze. I'm not thrilled about having my reception in a banquet room but I've heard the banquet rooms at the palace are really nice and new,and that they have a large window. I figured that $3000 for a 3 hour dinner wasn't really worth it. I'll probably have a cocktail hour outside before the dinner too.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
