So after confirming my date at Dreams PA - I am now a Barcelo Bride!

The price at Dreams jumped $400+ pp, so, my FI and I had to reconsider. Luckily I looked into the Barcelo, because their wedding packages are pretty good!

We're getting married July 16. Less than 6 months away!

yay.

Carie- I'm so close to being done everything. All I need to do is print out my programs, welcome letters, and a few other things. Plus, I still need to buy some shorts, but Sears has some nice ones.

My travel mugs have arrived, I'm just waiting for UPS to show up today to drop them off. I still need to tan a bit more. What else? I think all I need to do is just go through everything and make certain that we have enough for our OOT bags. Unfortunately, we never got our welcome books made, mainly because I didn't think that it was worth it in the end. They would be very heavy. So, I might make something else here in the next couple of weeks.

How are you doing?

We seriously need to hook up for a drink at the Barcelo!!!!

Hi all,

We're currently in the midst of getting quotes from our TA. Our TA had wanted us to pick 3 resorts - so we've picked Iberostar Del Mar, GP and Barcelo Maya. Out of those 3, our TA had highly recommended Barcelo Maya and so I started looking up this thread. So far, I'm loving what I've heard.

I've emailed the WC but haven't heard back. I'm wondering if any of you would be able to send me the 2009 packages and reosrt map to [email protected]. I've seen the 2008 package online but thought that 2009 package might have changed.

As for the reception, with the Sea Breeze package, other than a banquet hall, what are the location options for the reception? If we chose an ala carte restaurant, how many hours do we have there?

Do you know if there's a garden setting for the ceremony location? How many weddings does the resort hold in a day?

Jojo - I don't have the 2009 packages yet - but I'm waiting for them! If you get them let me know :) When in November? We are the 28th!

I don't know about a garden ceremony - I haven't been there, but from what I hear you can find a location and they will pretty much cater to you! Plus there is a chapel at Colonial and there is a smaller beach chapel at Caribe. Those are other options. If not there is the gazebo at the Palace.

Go to the unoffical Barcelo Maya website:

they have everything you need!

Congrats Meagan!

Jillian, I don't have a date yet as I'm waiting on my TA but I did get the 2009 package.I'm having difficulty attaching it here. Will try again tonight.

Last night, I went to a card store to look at invitations and the lady who helped me got married in Barcelo Maya in July 2008. What a co-incidence! I'm meeting her again to look at her pictures and to get more info. Will share with you ladies.

Did any of you purchase travel insurance?

I purchased travel insurance...just to be safe. Travel guard has some good rates.

On a side note, I just read that someone got confirmation from the WC at Barcelo that they no longer allow outside photographers and have changed their policy to this recently. Is anyone else aware of this or have information about it?

I was wondering if anyone knew if in order to have your dinner in an open air grill you need to book the package that allows you to have your dinner on the beach, or if you can get married in the grill instead of a banquet hall??

I was also on here and found a couple pictures of someone who was married there and had their dinner by the pool, where was that? I think it was PhillyBride who had her reception there. Do you have to pay extra to have your dinner by the pool?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
