Barceló Maya Colonial Beach

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Thank you so much for your help! I was really hoping that we didn't need to worry about centerpieces and all that jazz. I mean that is why we are going away to get married, less to worry about right. So what other colors in linesn and bows did they show you once you go there?

Thank you again,

Carie

Claudia told us that they have them in white, navy blue, and red. However, I'm not certain if they have any other colour. Plus, you are getting married at the Palace? So they might be a bit different. We are bringing down our own chair sashes in turquoise and putting sugar starfish on them.

Hi,

We were all about enjoying are trip, family and friends and getting married... chairs and center pieces we low on our list.

I know they had more then three colors for the bows. We had an off white/cream. All the resorts have the same WC they all share a office right next to the gym and spa. I am sure you have all the same options. There is NO EXTRA fee for the chair covers and bows (for both on the beach and the dinner)

I tried to upload picture BUT I keep getting this "Upload of file failed." WHAT they heck?? any pointers?

I am going to keep working on it!

I just came back from a wedding yesterday at the Barcelo Maya Riviera and it was awesome! Everyone had a great time. I was having doubts recently about having a destination wedding, not anymore! Sorry I can't give you too many details about the planning itself, but just wanted to share my experience as a guest. Most of the guests stayed in the Tropical but I stayed in the Colonial. Let me say that I didn't see any difference in the two, and they are right next door to each other, just walking distance. The piano bar in the Colonial is better, and there is a little mall next door, but nothing major. You will be eating at the same buffet as the Tropical guests. The staff is courteous and friendly and we made a few friends at the pool bar :) The reception was great. The hotel is gorgeous and I will say very large. One piece of advice I would give is to let your guests know that the resort is more than an hour drive from Cancun airport! If you can book transportation cheaper before hand that would be great. The shuttle from the airport was $40 per person and the taxi is $120 per person. The bride is a forum member so she will probably write up a review, and I will let her post her own pics (Congrats Sonia!!) My camera was acting funky so I didn't get as many great shots as I wanted, but here are a few pics of the resort:

You have 20 swim suits!?? That is nuts you must be so excietd!!!!

I am getting very excited as well. I am actually having troubles sleeping becasue of it!

I was reading on one of the forums about the paper work that is needed to get married! At the Barcelo we only need pass port, tourist card and birth certificate right? Do they need to be translated at all?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
