If it is true that she can cancel you 7 days prior, that is really great.

Also, she was doing a good job to warn you about the new fuel surcharge. I'd first find out the details because she might be doing everything right.

Did you book through funjet? if not, the insurance deal isn't always the same. there is access america insurance you can buy after you booked.

She definitely isn't making up these increases or anything like that so in that sense she is doing everything right.
This is what I am really irritated about! She should have told me before calling guests and confusing and pissing them off!
I think that most peoples air was paid in full at the time of booking.....because there were very few flights that you could book without paying in full....I thought once a flight was paid for this could not happenhuh.gif?
It would not make sense if it did....what if a person had a budget for vacation for a whole family expected to pay one price, but they are already booked and freakin screwed if fuel goes up! Ill check up the travel america insurance...

wow, good to know. At this point with fuel prices the way they are I guess its a good idea to either book your air seperatly and pay at once, or pay your trip in full when you book. I cant stand these fuel costs, its making traveling so expensive.

when you fly international they can do so many things to you. I've heard stories of people being in mexico & showing up to check in & then being told there is now a $100 departure fee that has to be paid in only pesos. So they had to scramble to get the money in time to get on their flight.

when i went to london last year they added an $80 departure fee after we booked. we atleast had a couple months notice so we knew to have the money with us.

Kryztan,

I am sorry this is happening to you. Your TA sounds like a wanker!

I don't get why she's harassing your guests either, especially if she todl them they had until a certain day to pay by.

I would def suggest travel insurance and have never heard that you can cancel everything last-minute with no penalties... usually when you cancel, you can't get money back without travel insurance.

I used this insurance (not the one my TA offered, as his was more expensive) and got a great deal... totally recommend it. Check it out:

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
