One fear or concern is the ability of the glue to withstand direct sunlight causing the glue to melt. In the many years of using hot glue I have never heard one complaint about melting in the sun. Many of the hot melt adhesives need a temperature of 300 degrees or better to melt down.

Melissa, I also am doing the plain white fans. I actually prefer that look to the straw fans, just my personal opinion. I am doing the program fans from the DIY section on Aylee's website for the ceremony, and then putting the white fans with a Thank you message with our monogram on each place setting. I'm not doing favors because we're already doing so much in our OOT bags.

I was going to order the sandalwood fans online at The Knot, but decided to wait and look in Chinatown in Toronto.  I did and I ended up buying 30 of them for only $1 each - no tax /or shipping = ).  Now I have to figure out how to dress them up a bit, need to look for some turquoise tassels and glue on something a little sparkly, not sure yet I am not that crafty.  If you order them from the Knot they engrave them for free with your order, names and wedding date.  But I figure people will lose them anyways and I didn't like the white tassels they came with.

Good luck!  The Knot also has coloured and patterned fans as well, but if you live near a chinatown go shopping there, so cheap!  I wanted to get the parasols as well but they all have patterns, i will have to order plain ones from the Knot or Oriental Trading has them as well.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
