Let me tell you,

my RSVP deadline is TOMORROW and I have gotten FIVE RSVPS back out of 110.

What's interesting about that, is that 52 people have confirmed they are going. And still about 9 more say they may come.

FIVE RSVPs. Count them. How annoying! LOL.

But luckily by word of moutha nd people tlakign to my mother or myself, I knew who was coming and when they booked their tickets.

I am under the impression though, now that I"m a bride, that it's quite common for peopel to 'forget' to send those suckers back. Just goes with the territory, I suppose...

We sent the RSVP card with our formal wedding invitation. (not the STD).

Wow! I'm so happy I finally vented about this annoying question I had. Everything you guys have commented leads me to believe that maybe a paper RSVP is not even worht it. I think I'll stick with my original plan. I'll just have guests RSVP through my wedding website, and than depending on those "Yes's", I will send out formal invites. Some people are good with returning RSVP's through the mail, but I guess others are too busy to send them back. Thanks for all of your posts on this matter wink.gif

I plan on sending out rsvp's with our std's too. Then whoever indicates they already know they won't be going, will not receive a formal invite. Those who don't respond, or indicate they are interested in going will receive a formal invite.... Here is my problem... what wording do I use on the rsvp? (since it is really just a preliminary rsvp)

I did not sednd an RSVP with my STD...it was really just to let people know what we had in mind since everyone has to travel so far. We sent the STD about 9 months before our date. I am planning to send invites at 7 months and the RSVP deadline is 4 months before the wedding. We have plenty of time to confirm our numbers to the venue, but I think with a detsination wedding you want to give everyone (including yourself) plenty of lead time. If you have a reasonable RSVP deadline it could give you plenty of time for DIY projects and other customized things you might want to do for your guests :)

I was planning on sending out the STD about 12-13 months before the wedding, with no RSVP - it's mostly for an FYI for everyone, and to make sure they know what's going on. I think the STD will have the wedding website on it so they can go on and book their trip etc if they want. The formal invitations I guess will go out 6-8 months before? I'm not sure what RSVP deadline to put on them - I think the 4 month one is a good idea so we can have a good estimate but I have a feeling some of our guests will be relatively last minute. It's so hard for people to commit sometimes!

My wedding website has a section dedicated for an RSVP already, should I make up a convenient DEADLINE and post it there?

Also, I've sent out about 40 STD's. Now whoever replies with a YES, those people will later recieve formal invitations, correct? Or am I now obligated to give formal invitaions to everybody that recieved an STD. I'm very confused with this. I thought if guests replied NO I WILL NOT ATTEND on the website than I would not have to count them in for formal invites....fryingpan.gifPLEASE HELP!!
I think all of us are doing it slightly different. I think it depends on who, and how many you are inviting. For us, we're having a small 20 person only family and very close friends wedding. So we basically knew right away who was coming and who wasn't. I sent out STD's to everyone first. The STD had all the booking/room rate info on it and an R.S.V.P date of May 30. This date was the date we needed all $100.00 room deposits by in order to get our 10 room group discount. So, people contacted our WC by that date and put their deposits down. Then, we sent MIB glass invites to everyone who's coming for sure. We made a few extras and worded them a bit differently to those who were invited but couldn't attend (all due to babies coming the week of the wedding YAY) BUT, if you are having a bigger wedding you may do things a bit differently. Ask your WC what she recommends and see what you feel most comfortable with.

I set up a wedding website within 2-3 days of the official engagement the first week of April (though I was planning for 2 months before I actually got the ring so I had a head start on some things). As I figured out details, date, location, etc. I added it there. For those that did not have internet like grandparents etc., they found out by word of mouth to start planning for the trip. So I guess my website was my Save the Date. I got my invitations and mailed them about 2 months after the wedding website went up (end of May). My RSVP deadline in the invites is July 1. Out of 60 invites I have gotten 10 RSVPs so far. There are also some people who assume I know they are coming but haven't formally RSVP'd.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
