Info on Sandos Playacar in Riviera Maya?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone has any info on this resort, has been there, is going there....etc. I think this is the place but would love to hear what others think about it. Thanks!

I have been trying to get some information on this place as well but haven't been having much luck...

Have you gotten any wedding information from the resort?

I have emailed 3 times in the last 5 weeks and have not heard A THING back. I know that they are busy, especially right now, but this is really frustrating... and kind of concerning - I don't know if I could handle that lack of communication during the planning process!

No, I just sent them an email with some general questions the other day and my FI is going to call the travel agent today to see if the date we are looking for is available. I will let you know if I hear anything back and what info I get. What date are you hoping for?

We're still looking quite a bit ahead, likely early December 2009 or mid-late April 2010. I'm going back to school in September so we will have to work around my school schedule. Everyone keeps telling me of course that I have lots of time to decide then, but I'd really like to at least pick a location before I go back to school so at least I will have one less thing to worry about!

The Sandos Playacar WC Lupita emailed me these two photos of ceremony set ups as examples.

I sent her an email with detailed questions and am still waiting on a reply. She did let me know that you can have a microphone set up.

I am considering this resort, but am also concerned with the lack of available information there is out there on weddings here.

If any gets any new info, let me know!

I have never been to a wedding at the Sandos, but my SIL is getting married there on Feb 2. I recently asked a bride on another site about her experiences...as she was married there..here is what she had to say.

Hey there, usually I'm not here but I am listing my wedding dress for sale so you caught me at the right time!

Sandos was wonderful...the rooms were great, the beach was awesome and the food pleased all of my guests. Make sure you get the Sandos Gold Bracelet that gives you access to the select club which has the best pool and buffet (with soft serve ice cream yum) Just make sure you don't answer the note they leave you on your door because time share people will take up ALOT of your time.

The wedding was perfect, I couldn't ask for better service & weather. The beach reception is totally worth the extra money and that's where we had a BLAST! We were only supposed to have it until 9 pm but we were able to stay and be served until after 11 pm. The WC was an angel, and very organized.

My entire group (35) was pleased with the resort, there was lots to do and a lot of variety for food. Some people in the group have already returned to Sandos because they liked it so much! As for reviews, they are usually pretty bad in the off season but once December-jan-feb-mar hits they seem to pull out all the stops because we had no complaints! We were married on March 13, 2008 and that was a perfect time to go because it is the best weather on the Mayan at that time!

I had problems getting a hold of the WC in the beginning, but she gets hundreds of emails each day and basically works on the wedding closest, because it is just her. She eventually gets back to you, sometimes I would call just to remind her to get back to me, but the closer it got to my wedding the more responsive she is. She can only work so far in advance and remember she has a wedding almost everyday to plan and coordinate, and then has to answer calls & emails.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have more questions and good luck!

Hope this helps you Sandos brides to be, I'll be sure to put down my experience at Sandos once we return in Feb.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
