I totally agree with you Martha -- in fact, when my sister backed out of my wedding as my MOH, she did it via IM! How tacky!!!! pokestick.gif

I do agree that the Internet has changed what is acceptable and what isn't. We are in that stage where it's a pretty new way of communicating so people are not sure what is appropriate and what isn't.

I did get some rsvps via myspace, in part because it was some of Chris' family who I don't really chat with on the phone. It's a pretty tricky thing but I agree that many things warrant a phone call.

I think some people rely too heavily on those sites for communication. That is ridiculous.

I mean, an email would have been a THOUSAND times better compared to Facebook. I'm sorry.

I think the guests and their RSVP etiquette are the most annoying things about weddings.[/QUOTE]

Amen, sister! We didn't even do RSVPs for Mandy's AHR because we already knew half of them wouldn't respond; they think it's for everyone but them. We guesstimated how many would be there - 280 -and just paid for that amount of people for dinner and went on. It actually turned out very close, so guess we were lucky we didn't end up paying for a lot of empty places. It's amazing the people that said later that they either forgot about it or meant to tell us they couldn't come, or some even thought it was Saturday instead of Friday. dizzy.gif

wow. that does suck! some people have no class.

on the other hand, at least you are getting rsvp's. we have had 47 out of 200 respond, and today was our deadline. nice. thanks for paying attention assholes wink.gif now i'm on the "it already has a stamp how f-ing hard can it be to mail it" rant.

Ugh Maura, you captured one of my biggest pet peeves!

I love it when one of my friends will call & be all pissy because I didn't respond to her "important" question that she left on my myspace page! WTF woman! I'm 32 years old...I have a job...and a phone....and email...I do not check myspace daily, much less weekly. Fricking insensitive weird people!@

we have about 20 RSVP responses out of 100 invitations sent (just counting the US) - however, i submitted several of those on my own, because i heard through friends that certain people wouldnt be coming or because a guest emailed me to let me know they couldnt make it. but regardless, we have about the same percentage back and your wedding is one full month before mine. my deadline to RSVP is june 28th, and i just know ill have to make phone calls.

we even did RSVPs on our website to make it easier for people to do it because we knew people are stupid when it comes to sending back RSVP cards! you'd think they'd do it already...but no! we made it so easy for them it just makes me sick how rude some people are.

i should mention too --- one of the people who facebook messaged me to let me know she can no longer come to the wedding is almost 50 years old! a college professor of mine who is a dear friend and was my mentor. she of all people should know better. everybody we know is aware i have a highly demanding job, and am best reached by phone or email - REAL methods of getting a hold of me efficiently because i have a blackberry so email & calls come to me instantly....i dont check my facebook everyday, i just dont have time. and i NEVER go on myspace.

WAKE UP PEOPLE THIS IS NOT A WEEKEND BACKYARD BARBEQUE WHERE YOU CAN JUST GO RUN OUT FOR AN EXTRA CASE OF BEER AND A COUPLE EXTRA BURGERS! ITS A FUCKING WEDDING!!!!!!!! USE PROPER ETIQUETTE ACCORDINGLY, ASSHOLE!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
