I'm currently just doing weights (10 lbs each arm) with a set of about 6 different exercises, doing pushups (triceps and shoulder/back) and basic pilates core stuff. Do you recommend a yoga DVD that I could try at home?
I'm not sure where you are in Montreal, but if you're in the West Island there is an amazing Yoga studio on St. Charles Blvd. in Pierrefonds( it may be DDO, not sure) ... it's called Harmoni and there's a Yoga instructor there, Sabine, and she's amazing! It's not expensive and she offers classes in the evenings (one at 6:00 and one at 8:00)...since I switched jobs I haven't been able to go back to her, but I am using this Yoga DVD at home:

My second appointment however, on the 10th, is at Bella di Sera on Blvd. St. Laurent (across from the Jean Talon Market). I think I'm most nervous about this appointment, as the salon has THE dress I'm most interested in...but I fear, from things I have heard, that I will probably go there...and not be able to try much on due to the limited size samples they will have. I'm a full figured girl you know!

I'm nervous...but trying to keep an open mind. I've shrunk my flabulous arms about a 1/2 inch on each upper...so...its progress. I know the original dress I posted, I can add the 3/4 sleeve in the matching overlay lace...for about $80...and...I'm hoping at ONE of the appointments, at least, I am able to get a better idea of what will actually look good on me. Hopefully...something will!

Congrats to you as well on your success. cheesy.gif Here's to more of it..for both of us!

I'll be in touch!
Keep me posted on the dress hunt - and I'm quite sure that once you have the dress on, all your worries and hesitations will melt away. :)

I've heard of Bella di Sera... gonna have to check it out!!

And yes ... congrats to you too!! Happy planning!!! :)

I just saw this post for the first time..... I totally understand how you feel. I did not want to go dress shopping AT ALL. Long story short, I found a dress that flatters my body type (as much as it can be flattered) and I am happy with it. Here's a picture:

I went to a dress shop that I knew had larger sizes to try on and I started there. Just give them a call before you go to see what sizes they have to try. I found a style that I liked and then I found the dress that I loved, but the manufacturer's website said that the sizes only went up to 18. I emailed them directly and they said that they could custom-make a size for me. The referred me to a bridal shop in my area that carried their brand (not the particular dress) and they sent a sample to them so I could see it in person before I ordered it. It has been great and I ordered it today! The dress is Monika by Modern Trousseau if you're interested. They are based in Connecticut. Good luck!!

I know Rachel...isn't that ridiculoushuh.gif I've never had luck before...but suddenly...my arms...HAVE tightened a bit...

I measured, and re-measured...and the mark is down nearly a half inch on the right upper and a little less on the left upper (must be a dominant arm thing or something, because I lift the weights for each arm at the same time)...

Unless I measured wrong to begin with!! But...as crazy as it is...I think its working.

The skin issue is certainly still prominent though...I can't even explain it. Grr.

Anywho...Monday is the first dress shopping day! I'll keep you posted.

cheesy.gif SO...today was my first dress shopping event! I think the girl that was helping me...was completely unprepared, but as a complete newbie to the whole world of wedding dress shopping...I didn't let it faze me!

After a gruelling hour of going through binders of dresses and explaining the styles I thought would look good on me...we were set. I wear a size 12/14 now for street clothes...and in the whole store, there were about 5 dresses that would work to try on...the rest were too small...boo erns.

Anyways...I tried on 3 dresses, the other two were just too big! None of the dresses I tried today were ANYTHING like what I thought I wanted...but...honestly...the first one I tried...a size 14 with a corset back...I liked a lot and...it could actually be the one?!?! I have my second appointment to try on the dress I think I'm in love with Thursday...but after today...and the style being SO different, I'm not sure anymore...

Like a lot of shops, we were NOT allowed to take any pictures...but I have one of the dress from the website of the store. Let me know what you think.

Yeay! I'm so glad it went well!!!!

I love the dress you posted. Isn't it funny how most people end up getting something they would have never thought they would like?

I know I dreaded dress shopping as well, but really I kind of had fun with it! I'm so glad you had a good experience!!!! Keep us posted on which dress you decide on.

i love that dress, and i believe it's quite popular around here - i know i've seen it lurking...come to think of it, i'm almost sure i tried it on!!!!
you have a bit of time before your wedding, so keep shopping. try on EVERYTHING, even if you think it'll look like poop on a stick, try it on. i never in a million years would have picked out my dress, but i sure am happy that i did! if it turns out that this first one really is it, you'll know...but try not to settle just b/c it's a hassle....it's (hopefully) the only time you'll get to do this!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
