Hi - we are planning to have our own music for the wedding on the beach at Playa Del Carman. Whatever we bring will have to be battery operated. I am concerned it will not be loud enough with the wind and possibly waves. Any suggestions other than live? No one can play the songs we need for the ceremony and they are all chosen......................Thanks

Hello!

I asked this same question some weeks back. I contacted a wedding planner with this question and their response was that because of the lack of facilities only live music could be played, but with the aid of an amplifier.

This is only partially true, I reckon. How do music festivals set up in the middle of the dessert and blast their music for 3 days straighthuh.gif Amplifiers and generators.

I'm sure that there is a way to organise this in the same way that there are portable PA systems for officiants to use at ceremonies. For about $250 you can get a portable PA system with an iPod docking station that got very good reviews, so I'm sure that when it gets down to the actual planning SOMEONE will be able to play the music you want :)

Thanks for the reply Cuban flamingo. Yes, I contacted a wedding planner too and it was highly recommended to go with a live trio because of the noise of possible waves, wind, etc. The trio does have a amplifier but I want to try the other route.....maybe an ipod with a boombox or something and speakers ---- the problem is finding something battery operated, small enough to get there and easy to use. And then comes the issue of it being loud enough. Thought we found the perfect answer.....an ipod set -up with four little speakers but it didn't take batteries. Any other ideas out there? Also looked into renting some kind of set-up but apparently there are no rental places around Playa Del Carmen that rent anything like this. For us, timing and choice of the music is critical when it comes to the ceremony and I can't see leaving that to a third party.

I feel the same way you do about music as well. I would get a few more opinions from other wedding planners. Planners in the area seem to have their preferred vendors. I was told by one planner that there was only one beach club in Playa del Carmen where a reception could be held, while another has recommended 4 options. One cannot offer the music choice I requested as "it's not something they have available" while another gave me several. I'd ask around...

The planner I am considering contracting has a sound system for microphones, CDs and iPods available for her clients to use for $250. I don't know whether this is portable or not. It's a bit odd that isn't a single portable public address system available in Playa del Carmen with all the weddings that take place on the beaches. I will ask her about the sound system for you and let you know the specs.

Cheers.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
