Legal Ceremony????

Recommended Posts

I'm going to be legally married in Mexico. From what I understand, you need to be in Mexico a few days prior, you need to have blood tests done and only a judge can legally marry you. The legal ceremony is performed in Spanish, so there is a translater. The legal ceremony is usually done before the civil/religous ceremony.

If you decide to get legally married in Mexico, I would strongly advise you to use a WC, who would be able to coordinate everything for you.

Hope this helps.

Yes, I strongly agree that if you plan to legally wed in Mexico to have your WC handle everything, just to ensure you don't spend those pre-wedding days running around alone trying to handle any problems that may arise.

I thought hard about this and opted to legally wed in the U.S. in advance just because I didn't want to hassle with the tests and paperwork once I got to Mexico. If you're up for it, I think it is awesome though!!

We thought we'd be doing this, but FI doesn't want to deal with it at all (we're getting legally married in Hawaii on our honeymoom right after we leave Mexico). But I think the requirements differ depending on what city and/or state you're getting married in - and possibly even where (what resort) you get married at.

A legal ceremony was not even an option for me at Las Caletas - I would have had to do it in PV before (or after). Given that our actual ceremony wasn't going to be the "real" thing, we just decided not to bother.

We're getting married at home before we leave too. Its just one less thing to worry about going wrong and there are fees involved in every part of it, so to us it was just better to do it here before leaving. We leave on a Tuesday so I'm going to see if we can do it on Monday before we leave, I just have to make sure I'll have all the paperwork we need to go.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
