Private Reception - Which hotels do I look at?

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies! I am looking into Riveria Maya and Cancun for October 25th. I've been in contact with a few hotels, but I need a hotel that will provide us (we'll pay, obv) a private reception (dinner, dancing). I'm totally confused and my parents and in laws need my decision by Monday so they can put the deposit down! We are expecting a min of 50 ppl. I've looked into Dreams (no1 has gotten back to me after about 10 requests that I've submitted), Iberstar Lindo (Riveria Maya), Gran Bahia Principe (which so far I like bc the WC responds so quickly), Riu Palace Las Americanas (which I like as well, but cant figure out re: private party), and a few others that didn't have my date available. Can any1 recommend me a hotel to look into that will work with the private party I need? HELP HELP HELP PLEEEASSEE!!!!

Try the Omni Puerto Aventuras. The hotel is small and it might be too late but you could have your guests book the whole resort and then it would be very private. Do you want an outside reception? If not, then ask hotels about ballrooms. We had our reception at the Fiesta Americana Condesa in their peninsula ballroom. It was very private and in the back of the hotel but I wouldn't recommend it because the ac was broken.

Dreams Tulum does have private receptions. They just completed a beautiful ballroom. And if you don't want it in there, you could pay for another location, still private...it may cost you $750 bucks though.

The one drawback is the communication with the wedding coordinator. They are in the process of a transition so it may take a long time to get a response. My suggestion is calling the hotel directly and ask to speak to the WC. You may have to call a few times before you can actually reach her but this way she will be able to tell you if your date is available.

I'm having a private reception at Dreams Tulum for about 55-60 people in November.

Good luck! PM me if you have other ?'s.

Paradisus Riviera Cancun also does Private reception/dinner. If you go to their website there are packages that you could look at in the "romance" section. The WC's there are good about getting back responding. Also- I second what can't wait said and suggest you call if it's a rush because even when it's fast in Mexico you could still wait 2 or 3 days. good luck!

Thanks for the responses ladies. Dreams Tulum and Cancun have not gotten back to me regardless of the thousands of emails I've sent and few voicemails I've left. I kind of don't want to get myself involved in a situation where people aren't going to pay that much attention to me do you know what I mean? So there is no way that Riu Las Americans will coordinate a private reception for me? I mean don't get me wrong, I am willing to pay however much I need to I don't expect it to be included. What about Gran Bahia? I have been in contact with them and they are attentive and very accomodating, but I feel like I need more options. I am having problems with availability for my date. I def want an outdoor reception. More info please!!! Thanks!

I am getting married at Iberostar Lindo. You cannot have a private dinner at either the Lindo or the Maya. Your dinner will be semi-private since it is in one of the restaurants (of your choice), and then you can rent out the Los Vitrales room (recommended) or the Disco (not the best looking decor for a wedding). You can have a private dinner and reception at the Del Mar if you rent out the Tropical restaurant. I think it was $800 to rent out the room for the night, but think you still have to pay the per person fee. The Del Mar is also cheaper for guests, but they don't have access to some of the pools that guests staying at the Lindo or Maya have access to. Also, if you have the wedding at the Lindo and your guests want to stay at the Del Mar they need to buy a day pass to get on the lindo property for the wedding. There are no exceptions on this so you may want to keep that in mind. If they stay at the Lindo and the wedding is at the Del Mar a day pass is not needed. The Grand is the most expensive, but they don't allow kids.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
