Stadium Cups or Travel Mugs?

Recommended Posts

We picked stadium cups to provide a bigger drink for people - the cups at the resorts are often like Dixie Cups - and frankly most of our guests will be done before the drink has time to get warm - I think it you want something to keep the drink colder over a longer period of time - go for the mugs ...

i agree with the above poster. i did stadium cups because they are a lot bigger than the little plastic cups the resort gives you. the travel mugs i wanted to get would of cost me like $4 a mug and i didn't want to spend that much. AT first i was a lil bummed that i was doing travel mugs but now I really like the stadium cups and if people didn't use or bring their travel mugs with them i'd prob be a lil pissed that i spent all that money on them.

I did stadium cups, mostly b/c they were easier to pack. My guests loved them and used them all week. They were significantly bigger than the cups that the resort gives you. And to be honest, I don't think anyone had their drink long enough for it to get hot...lol!

yeah, our resort served drinks in tall nice glasses (plastic, but not disposable plastic) with nice pineaple & cherry garnishes. So basically nobody used the DIY customized mugs I made sad.gif

We went with cups just for packing reasons - and really - whatever people do with them after the trip is up to them - we wanted them to avoid frequent trips to the bar - and something a little fun to set our group apart. With all of the luggage restrictions now, it'll cost more to get mugs down there - plus then i had money left over to buy a few other OOT goodies :)

I really like the travel mug idea. That is what we are planning to do. The last couple of times we have been to AI resorts we took our "Bubba Kegs." They were a hit with everyone(many were jealous)!! I would start the day off with 44 oz of Pina Colada. dicountmugs.com had some reasonable prices.

We are going to do bubba kegs for our guests and we will hand them out before we leave. Those we don't see before getting to the airport will get theirs at the airport. All of our guests will be leaving from the same airport with the exception of a 4 families that haven't even confirmed if they are coming or not.

As for the price, they go on sale at Canadian Tire, so we are going to get them then. A bunch of my family that went on a trip together last year have them and loved them at the resort!

That's super nice that you are going to see everyone before the trip! We moved about 3 years ago, and most of our close family and friends are coming from a different part of the country...so we wont' see anyone really before our trip ;(

We used mugs, and they really were great with keeping the drinks cold. I think if we would have just used cups, no one would have used them. Plus having the mugs in the pool helped keep the pool water out. I found some plain black mugs for a dollar at family dollar and wound up going to 3 of them around town to gather all I needed. Then I just used a silver sharpie to write their names on them.... very cheap yet effective!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
