Freaking out - Dreams

Recommended Posts

Ok, so we're plannig to get married in Jan '09, and the plan was Dreams. We haven't booked yet, as the prices still suck.

However, I recently went on Triadvisor, which I swear by, and the latest reviewers all got food poisonning, and said the hotel staff was not helpful!

My first question is, how really is Dreams?

My second question, what else is out there similar to Dreams?

Please Help!

You know with TripAdvisor you have to really consider the sources, but if multiple reviewers say the same good/bad things I tend to believe them and IMO they tend to be right. I've read horrible things about illness & lack of concern at various DR resorts on TripAdvisor (and the DR hospitals sound downright abusive according to some reviews), but I've also read reviews of DR brides here who had no such problems.

Try searching this site for DR wedding reviews and see where they stayed, good luck :)

I wouldn't live by tripadvisor. In my experience, people are just a tad crazy. I only listen to the reviews that thoughtfully list the good with the bad. If they go crazy one way or the other, they probably are too easy to please or too hard to please.

Our resort had TERRIBLE reviews before we left. People complained right and left of bed bugs and food poisoning. I didn't have encounters with either- not that I know what a bed bug looks like but I'm sure if there were some I would have known. And I also thought the food was good the two weeks we were there.

Try not to panic. :) Plus all Dreams resorts are usually top notch.

even if there was a food poisoning incident, it is likely clearning up already (there could just have been problems with one meal, or maybe it's not even food poisoning but a flu that was passed on from guest to guest). If this isn't an ongoing problem (which it isn't, just recent incident) then the problem is unlikely to occur again many months from now.

Also people on trip advisor are crazy :) I'm sure there are a bunch of great reviews saying the bad ones are crazy right? :)

TOTALLY AGREE!!! I would not worry If I were you. Not one resort will have perfect reviews.

I always check tripadvisor too. If its just one random review surrounded by many positive ones i try to ignore it but if it's negative after negative review than i believe them and get nervous. Maybe just keep checking the reviews over the next couple of weeks and talk to some Dreams brides on here.

there are a lot of other great resorts in Punta Cana too so if you feel more comfortable chaning resorts i'm sure you'll find one comparable. I thought Iberostar and Melia Tropical Caribe were similar to Dreams PC. I switched resorts because of bad reviews on trip advisor and i didn't hear back from WC in weeks and i felt so relieved after i switched. I would just look into some other resorts and than way your options.

I do the same :). Which is why I chose Dreams (Punta Cana). But when I went back to che the latest, the theme was the same. Bad food, bad service. Everyone knows, there's nothing worse than bad food at a wedding. I'm picky.

Has anyone recently gotten back from there?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
