Anyone heard of Puerto Vieja?

Recommended Posts

I'm getting married at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach on June 7. I'm at a total loss at to what to do for our reception/dinner. It's not really a true reception-we just have 20 guests. I just want a nice, group dinner somewhere that isn't far from the resort. My WC from Cabo Dream Weddings has suggested Sunset Da Mona Lisa (a little too expensive), and she also suggested Sancha Panza (?? I think it's a small winery type restaurant), and another place called Puerto Vieja. She sent me pictures of it, and I think it's really cute. The menu looked nice, and she said the food was great. I just wanted to see if anyone knows anything about it or has eaten there before.

Any other restaurant suggestions are welcome as well!!!

Thanks!

Here's some info from LosCabosGuide.com:

Puerta Vieja Restaurant and Bar

The view from Puerta Vieja, just outside Cabo San Lucas, is the stuff of postcards. Sit at any table, either upstairs or down, and the liberal view takes your eyes to the bay and there it is… The Arch. The interior, with its cream-colored walls, windows forever, tiled floors, funky Mexican artifacts and rustic wood accents feels… romantic. The tables are spaced far apart, with lots of room to move, like you are on your own island. Perfect for dates! The menu hops between Mexican tastes and American flavors, but the focus is clearly on seafood. Lobster and shrimps can be paired with filets, t-bones, rib eyes and New Yorks. You may want to start with the lobster chowder, which is served in a rounded bread loaf. The specialty of the house more than defines “surf and turf,” with three lamb chops, three jumbo shrimp, and a lobster tail. The excellent service is “soft swarm style” in that you never know where the waiters are until they bring you just what you were thinking about. Puerta Vieja is also ideal for groups and events. A well-priced wine list adds to the appeal, along with live music Thursday to Sunday from 8 to 11 p.m., and a private dining room for 12 and an upper level bar and terrace for parties of up to 150 people. Dinner entrées from $21 to $30 U.S., with seating for 95 and groups up to 120. Open 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily. At Kilometer 6.3, next to Cabo Bello in the Tourist Corridor, for reservations, call (624) 104-3334.—B.F.

Also, I wanted to add that I believe I dined at this restaurant a few years ago (99% sure), and if it's the place I'm thinking of, it really does have stunning views & the way it's set up is awesome. The windows are more like glass walls, and they can open them up, it's really cool. Looks like the entree prices are reasonable, I think this might be a great option for you if you don't mind a little drive.

I just got home from Cabo last week, and we ate our last meal here. The food and the service was perfect! The owner went out of his way to make us feel at home--there is a huge room on the top facing the Arc, and there's a whole seperate glassed room that has the same view. We are having a small wedding also, and are thinking of having our reception meal there instead of at the resort!

I am getting married at sunset beach in april and we are having the reception there also. The price per person seems high $210+ but it includes everything - open bar, flowers, etc. We are getting married on the beach, having cocktail hour under the gazebo, and then moving to one of the ocean terraces for the reception.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
