Have you used any of these Wedding Coordinators?--- In need of your fabulous opinions

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

My partner and I are planning on getting married in Playa del Carmen, Mexico during easter week 2010 -- not next year, but the next one (geez, huh?). I've contacted pretty much every wedding coordinator in the area and have a feeling on who might be the best fit for what we want.

I've contacted and recieved responses from:

-Weddings in Playa

-Ajua Weddings

-Caribbean Blue Weddings

-Mica de Miralls

-Yazmin de la Mora (I believe Sol Tamargo used her...)

-Zulma and Walter at The Royal, Playa del Carmen

I live in Australia so site visits are out of the question...

Based on how professional and informative their responses were, Weddings in Playa and Yazmin de la Mora are my top choices. Yazmin de la Mora is actually my top choice at the moment, as she made it very clear that she has all the resources to make ANYTHING happen and included a price list for all of her services.

Does anyone have any personal references they might want to offer on any of these coordinators? You can send me a private message, if that's more comfortable for you.

Thanks heaps!

There is someone on here who raved about Ajua weddings. She was really happy. I had some contact with them but we decided to do an AI. She was very responsive though and thorough and we even had a phone chat after emails. Try searching " non resort wedding" or something like that and you may find this members post. She raved.

I've been working with Irene from Caribbean Blue Weddings and she's been great. I know that they only do beach ceremonies, so if you want something different, then maybe she's not your best choice.

She's helping us with planning the reception at Maramao Beach Club, since we're having the ceremony at the Royal...

Have you chosen a site for your wedding yet? Do you have any ideas what type of a venue you are looking for?

Almost all the hotels have on-site wedding coordinators that will

help you book vendors so that you don't have to hire a wedding coordinator yourself. They walk you through everything from flowers to transportation and wedding certificates. In fact, some may not let you bring in an outside coordinator. At first we thought we needed a coordinator but most of the places we were looking at had wedding coordinators.

Thanks for your resonses! They're all great!

We are kind of in a bind about what sort of wedding combo we want to have.

Option 1 would be have a wedding ceremony on a semi-private stretch of Playacar Beach, for which I'm pretty sure we need a non-resort WC to help us plan and then for the reception, rent a luxury beachfront villa, also in Playacar, and have a caterer provide food and have a furniture rental company set up a fabulous lounge/dinning area with a dance area --all on the beach. This option will require some serious planning, but will be sort of a one-of-kind event. I have a rough idea of how much this will cost.

Option 2 would be to still have the wedding ceremony on the beach and then bus or limo everyone to the Royal for a beachfront wedding reception, with similar set-up to as mentioned before but done under the coordination of the hotel WC. The advantage of this option is I kind of already know how much it will cost, I just need to find out whether it's possible to set up a tent area with a bit of lounge furniture underneath it and globe lanterns. It's their beach, I'm sure they can do what they want on it, right? Save for bonfires.

It seems like at the moment our families are keen to use their timeshare weeks, which means that maybe the majority of us will not be staying in Playa del Carmen. We plan to stay at La Tortuga Hotel and Spa for part of the time and then move over The Royal for the festivities on our last few days.

Since we plan on our group being smallish -- around 30 -- the privacy of these two options sound good.

I am going to use Yazmin De La Mora. I have contacted several wedding coordinators, and she has been hands down the most responsive (immediate response), most professional, has sent tools to accurately calculate our budget, she flexible, and she has payment options, and plans.

I am a shrewd consumer, and always expect great service, and will pay for what I want. Many of the coordinators you listed I have been corresponding with, and from "my experience" she has outshined them all in every category. As a matter of fact, this is the first time that I have felt any comfort in my planning the DW. I hope this helps, please let me know if I can assist you in any other ways!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
