mike wanted to get married on our 4 1/2 year anniversay 6/9 (today). our witnesses were busy that day & I'd rather have friday the 13th than 69.
Aww, Morgan, I thought you were going to do it on May 20 - like the rest of the family! Friday the 13th is an awesome date, though. Wishing you a wonderful & happy day! friday.gif

We were planning on late may, but things were hectic then. This week we are much more relaxed.

Stuff like this makes me reconsider and wonder if we should do the same. We'd save so much $$$...

Have a great day!!! :)
We are saving over $1000 by getting married before we go. There is a huge price difference in the packages at our hotel. A big reason why we are doing it this way is so we can personalize the ceremony.

just a casual outfit. it's been really hot in NC. I'm searching for a tiny sombrero for nibblets.

smile41.gif FI just told me it would be about the same for us. I thought it was closer to $400...

Now I'm really going to revisit this option.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread!

hijack away. I don't mind.

I really struggled with this decision at first. I felt like we'd be deceiving people & that if they knew they wouldn't view our wedding the same. I also thought like we'd feel weird on legal day like we had to treat it insignificant.

So at first I made the decision just based on cost, but I wasn't thrilled with the idea.

Once I told a few people they were so supportive of the idea. I started getting more comfortable about it & now I've just embraced legal day as something great. I really am excited to have two weddings- one day that we focus totally on each other & one day that we celebrate with family and friends.

Also, now that I have put together our ceremony script I am so happy we are getting to personalize it. I love our script. I just read it for fun now. I want to take lines from it & put them in our photobook next to the pictures.

After I get back from mexico I'll give my honest review of if I think it was the right choice. But, from what everyone on the forum has said, it sounds like it doesn't take away from the wedding day at all. Plus with a saturday wedding our marriage certificate would have had friday's date on it anyway. After seeing the hassles Michelle08 just posted about her legal paperwork from mexico it really does make legal day more appealing.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
