Those that love you will be more than ecstatic that you have found love again. It's so hard to bounce back from a divorce. You should celebrate that you were able to recover and find love again. If others have issues that it's your 2nd marriage and feel you don't deserve all the congratulations, then that's their problem. They are probably negative dirtbags anyways. :)
AMEN!!I'm a second time bride too. This is my husband's first marriage. Please celebrate your wedding anyway you want. Don't feel like you can't have or do certain things because this is your second time. We didn't register because we were eloping and not having a shower. Oh and we eloped because we wanted to not because we felt we had to because it was my second time. Enjoy this special time and don't worry about what anyone else thinks.

Thank you so much for the amazing replies. I am so excited to finally be in love with the person I am marrying.

I've been told-I dont get a shower, I cant wear white(and the person who said it shouldnt have worn white on her wedding due to the fact she was a H**), and then when I mentioned an at home recption/picnic my own mother said it wasnt necessary!

I keep thinking it is-everyone else does something when they get back! My DF wants to register but I too thought it was tacky to register and put the cards in the envelope so thanks for that advice I wont include them but I'll include it in the wedding website-and add the site to the invitation to the picnic!! We have so many friends that want to have a party with us so Im going ahead with it.

My own sister is married to a man who is divorced and she keeps making some comments like-well you dont need this or that b/c its your second wedding. Ummm as far as I am concerned it is MY ONLY wedding because its the one that actually matters. My last one I was young and made a mistake. Gosh-why do we celebrate birthdays every year-should I tell them-well 33 isnt important as 35 so lets wait til then? LOL

Rachel-HA HA I loved your comment-I was like YEAH right on!

Danielle-I saw that show too with the dad-talk about $$$$ for a wedding-LOL! :)

Thanks everyone!!

Well I'm glad we have helped you sort through some stuff mentality.

As for all those comments about what you can and can't do because it's your 2nd marriage- oh boy I feel a rant. wink.gif

Seriously- they need to mind their own business and not be so judgemental. If you want to wear virgin white, blue, red or whatever color we can think of that is your business. If they don't want to buy you a gift cause it's your 2nd marriage, that's a decision their cheap asses can make. :) Keep your head up and dont let their shit talk get to you. You have NOTHING to be ashamed of or feel sorry for.

Congrats on marrying your love!

my advice is to only do the picnic after if YOU want to. many people say they are so tired after the wedding that the don't feel like planning an AHR. if your family isn't supportive, maybe you could just celebrate with friends. I'm having my AHR with friends only because my family is in another state & i'm not interested in flying back to throw a BBQ. The party with friends will just be casual & the kind of thing I enjoy. The other AHR wasn't something I wanted & our families didn't want it either.

I hate the idea that white=pure. I'm wearing ivory because that's what looks best on me. I say wear whatever color you want.

i understand parents not wanting to pay for a 2nd wedding, but it shouldn't be treated like it's not a cause for celebration.

I have learned wedding planning is much more fun if you ignore the negative people. They will always find something to complain about. Don't let them take away your joy. You'll find other people who you never imagined will make you feel so loved. And if everyone around you sucks, you always have each other :)

PS. have you seen the vegas neon sign boneyard? it's a really cool place to do a day after session. There are vegas pictures on the forum you should check out.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
