Who should give me away?

Recommended Posts

I lost my dad too and ever since I got engaged that was one of the first questions on my mind: who's going to walk me down the aisle?

At first I was thinking about maybe my older brother, or my uncle (one of dad's brothers), or possibly a really good friend of my dad's who has known me since I was born... well I'm still not really sure about any of those choices to be honest. They just all pale in comparison to having my dad walk me down the aisle.

So then I was thinking that I would just go alone, and actually I think I might be ok with that. But then my mom said when I asked her what she thought: "well of course I'll walk you down the aisle!". I love my mom and if she wants to do this I'll probably let her, but somehow it still doesn't feel quite right to me... like as if walking down the aisle with my mom will remind me that oh yeah, I have to be walked down the aisle by my mom cause my dad's not here to do it.

Anyways, I think if your mom wants to walk you down the aisle and you like the idea then that would be the best. I really like the idea of her giving you away on behalf of her and your dad. Actually that idea makes me like the idea of my mom walking me down the aisle a little more too =)

i agree on asking your mom. i have thought about this too. unfortunatly i am not that close with my dad so i doesn't feel right to ask him to 'give me away' so i will think i will be walking down the isle with my hubby. either that or walk alone.

My grandad is giving me away (subject to health etc).

My biological father is not dead (not that I know off) but he unfortunatly is not a nice person. I am getting married abroad to limit the possiblility of him showing up to ruin it.

However, I still had the same problem - who will give me away.

My mum would not be interested. She's not the type of person who would plike that sort of stuff. I've got two brothers but which one would do it?

Now my grandad is the perfect solution for my situation.

I know you will find some sort of resolution which will suit you and your family- I wish you all the best

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
