I'm kinda over the wedding...

Lately I've been having wedding nightmares. Basically I dream about all of the things on my "wedding shit" to do list. I think this means that I need to get my ass in gear and get stuff done. While in reality I have no motivation to do so.

I am really excited for the wedding. But I'm SOOO over planning it. And, to be honest, most of my "planning" was finding a location and a dress. And those two things alone have totally swallowed up all of my wedding planning desires.

I think part of it, is that Joe and I have been engaged for, what seems like, a lifetime now. I always thought of our wedding as "SOOO far away! I've got tons of time" Well, that's not really true anymore. I've got 5 months. And that freaks me out! I haven't done anything aside from sending out invites. I haven't bought anything, aside from a dress, flip flops, and travel candles for the OOT bags. I know I need to get on the ball and get stuff in order, so that it's not all last mintue. But I just can't find the desire to do stuff.

What's even more funny, is that I love little details. So why can't I get motivated to give our wedding these little details I love so much?! A year ago, I was ALL ABOUT planning, but forced myself to let it go because it was too early. Now that it's not too early, I can't get myself do to anything.

Ok, thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

Tara maybe once summer hits you will have more time, it will be so hot there you won't have any thing else to do but sit inside and plan your wedding-and of course spend more time on BDW since you are not around very much anymore!

Tara,

I love little details and I went through something similar.

I think you need to compartmentalize some of this stuff, instead of looking at it as 'wedding' just think about 1 thing at a time...

like OOT bags...then finish those and move on to the next thing KWIM?

Yeah I could see how it would be hard to get rolling if it seems like you have been engaged forever and talking about it for just as long.

My guess would be that once you give yourself permission to get started buying stuff and planning it will be fun and you will want to get going. If not, set deadlines for each task. Buy one thing for the OOT bags each week until you have what you want-stuff like that.

You know what? I feel the same way as you. I am so over this wedding stuff. I just would rather believe I am going on vacation to Fiji and just so happen to get married there. Honestly, will the small minor stuff really matter 30 years from now?? Probably not. I have less than 2 months. Im just ordered FI's ring and a picture charm in memory of my grandma and I think Im done. I will discuss flowers and cakes and ceremony when I get there.

On the other hand...you have 5 months and eventually you will get a bit more interested and start working on some stuff. You really dont have to go overboard and buy too much crap for your oot bags. I think I went crazy about 5 months back.

I think around 4 months out I got totally overwhelmed and took a month off. I was on here, talking about what I needed to do, but didn't really do anything - lol. I had bought materials for DIY's, but didn't put them together. I knew what I wanted to buy for OOT, but didn't order it. Eventually, I got my butt back in gear and got it all done. Definitely try to focus on 1 thing at a time, and then move on to the next. You'll get it all done!

i'm getting married in Nov too and I really hadn't done much until last month and now i think i need a break. I'm taking this weekend off from wedding planning. Maybe you just need a weekend away from wedding stuff and then you'll be refreshed. I keep trying to think how much my guests will enjoy all these diy project and other stuff (oot bags). it keeps me going.

I only have a little over a month left and I am so over the planning. I just want to be there having fun with the people that I love. On the other hand I tell myself that I will miss the planning once it is over. Enjoy this once in a lifetime experience.

I'll try to follow my own advice.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
