My Aunt went to the hospital last night.....

Last night, my aunt was transported to the hospital because she was seizing. She's not epileptic but she was having violent seizures that caused her to even foam at the mouth. Even after reaching the hospital and recieving some type of shot, she continued to seize roughly every two minutes. They gave her a MRI and didn't find anything. They also did bloodwork and found nothing abnormal so they sent her home after giving her a ton of muscle relaxers and advice to consult a neurologist. She seized several times on the way home.

I was on pins and needles the whole night because I knew she was transported to the hospital, but my family is so huge I didn't want to be one more body in the waiting room until we found out the seriousness of it. I'm kind of dismayed how the hospital sent her home after 3 hours and had no idea what to do. They didn't even hold her for observation.

I talked to one of my aunts this morning that's watching her and she said that she is still having a convulsions. I don't get it- why would they send her home? Is this normal? I am so worried!

She's in and out of consciousness. She doesn't remember seizing but she can kinda tell when it's coming on. She says things like "here comes another one." She is very drugged up so she isn't really to coherent.

She had convulsions and collapsed when they were walking out the hospital doors. They ran and got a doctor and he told them that they still just needed to see a neurologist. That's just crazy to me!

That is insane that they would release her! Obviously something is very, very wrong. When is she able to get into a neurologist? It seems that they should've had one immediately at the hospital. I am so sorry that you are going through this. You will be in my thoughts and prayers today!

Rachel, I'm so sorry you're going through this. My BIL went through this last summer, it was awful! and the same situation happened, the hospital sent him home. Just like your aunt, he didn't remember anything, he didn't even know what day it was or who the president of the United States was. The day after he was acting very weird, my sister took him back to the hospital and checked him in. He was there about 2 weeks and fully recovered. Apparently he was having a reaction to a prescription medicine he was taking and the doctors gave him small dosages of it to stop the seizures. Once that happened he was fine. I hope your aunt recovers soon, it seems very odd she got sent home. Does she have an appt. with the neurologist yet?

That's so scary Rachel! Was she referred to a neurologist? I wished she lived here... she could see my mom's neurologist he was rated on the nation's top doc's. I'll keep her in my thoughts keep us posted as to what happens.

OMG- I can't believe they sent her home in that condition. It would be one thing if she didn't have another one, but this seems crazy to me. This happened to a friend of mine two years ago. Her seizures were caused by stress... or so they said. She had to do a bunch of tests and luckily they didn't find anything and it hasn't happened again. I hope she is ok.

Rachel, that is so scary. I cannot believed they released her form the hospital with no diagnosis and she is still suffering from the original symptoms. Have you called a neurologist? I wish I knew one in the area. I only know them in SF and Dallas. I am keeping yur family in my thoughts.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
