they will not do the cake outside. we had the cake with dinner. we asked to do a champagne toast after the ceremony instead of at dinner. it worked nicely. We gave them back the bottle that was for our room so we didn't have to buy extra bottles for the toast. I think 2 are included so we had 3 which was enough for 23 people.

I uploaded everything I could share. I don't email templates because i get a lot of requests to do that & it would take a lot of time to keep up with it. I also archived all my wedding stuff. I don't know if the meet the guests brochure ever had a template. I started making things in a complicated way that made them really hard to share. I tried sharing them with people & it was a headache for both of us. I think I uploaded what I could share for the meet the guests, but there isn't a simple template for that.

Thanks Morgan!!! I eventually found your templates. I'm still trying to learn how to maneuver around the bdw forum and I'm not super computer savvy...I'm like the Forrest Gump of computers. It seems to work out in the end but....

I love your idea about the cake at dinner and the champagne toast after the ceremony. There are so many great ideas on here and it's nice to get the perspective of brides at the hotel I plan on getting married. Is there anything "bad" I should prepare for or be aware of? Do you know if a lot of guests upgraded rooms? Are there better buildings to stay in vs others? ( close to the pool is best or close to the buffet areas?)

we didn't upgrade. I didn't want the bathtub on the balcony. I like a tub with my shower inside. They gave us a nice room though. many guests did upgrade & they really liked it.

I think everyone liked their location no matter where it was. my mom was near the lobby bar so she hung out there at night. mike's family was by the pure chill out so they went there. it's not a huge resort so there isn't a good or bad side.

check out the catalonia thread for lots of pictures & info.

I was married there in January and we went down with 40 people.. all who LOVED the cat!

There are no huge negatives about the resort at all! We had an upgraded room and it was beautiful. We wanted the bigger room since all the girls in the wedding party and myself were going to be getting ready in there.. very worth it! All the room aside from the upgraded ones are the "normal" hotel rooms and they all seemed to have nice views with them.

As for hair.. there is a spa on site that does hair and they do a great job.. its pretty cheap too considering your in a resort ($40-$50 US)

I would also recommend getting a photographer.. we used Lincoln and Lori from "Moments that Matter" and I can honestly say they were worth every penny and more! They were incredible! Check out their site Wedding Photographer Mexico , Cancun , Playa Del Carmen , Mayan Riviera

Our wedding is the "Mayan wedding", "Trash the Dress", and "Album".. theres some pics of the resort too..

You're wedding was amazintg. I loved your photos! And I love the idea about getting the bigger room so we have a bigger place to get ready. I was hoping to use Moments that Matter but I wasn't quick enough with the deposit. Now I'm not sure who to use. I'm looking to spend about $1000 and want to make sure I get a copy of all the photos.

Also- does anyone know of a Steel drum band and the cost??

Our travel agent emailed Elena a list of our guests and asked that we were all near each other, and a bunch of our guests got free upgraded rooms! the rooms near the japanese restaurant (I think they started with 61) were really nice. I'm not sure what they're called, but they were between the regular rooms and the suites, and came with a fridge with soda/beer and free safe. Someone in our group upgraded to an oceanroom view and I think he was disappointed with it because he was far from everyone else, and was never in his room to really enjoy the view... and the hotel is small enough that it's never a far walk to the beach.

It was great having everyone near each other - except we upgraded to a suite and so did my parents, so our rooms were next door... which was a little weird!

Hi Koolatta!

I just wanted to say hello because I am arriving on the day of your wedding at the Cat and getting married on Thurs Nov 19!! Elena was slow at returning emails but I've had really quick responses from the coordinator for our private reception. I agree Morgan's notes/pics/advice has been sooo helpful. Well, I'll probably talk to you again.

take care!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
