Oh yes sorry didnt need to stress you out - i mean other hotels. However i do wonder if some of the brides do have the actual dates confirmed and that they are more 'TBC' like mine is. As our TA has requested 24.01.11 but the hotel wont confirm it until August. Our TA has it in her diary to start calling them from the 1st August. I bet once this time comes there will be a few more brides cropping up on this forum as well.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am considering booking the CAT for my wedding, and I have a few quick questions for any brides who have already married there...

1. How many weddings will they allow in one day? It seems like just one to me, but I have not seen this written anywhere.

2. Do they have any other set up for the ceremony other than the white tent? I really enjoy the look of the simple four post set up with fabic wound around it...but I have only seen pics at the CAT with the white tent.

3. Also, the way I understand it from all of your posts is that no wedding dates will be confirmed until Aug, at which time only symbolic ceremony dates will be confirmed? Is this correct? I want to have a symbolic ceremony at the end of March 2011...

Any help with these questions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!

Kristen - i cant answer much to your questions as I havent got married there yet - lol!

However from the info I have got..

With regards to the date I am having a legal ceremony and have been advised by both the hotel and our TA no dates will be confirmed until August. I dont know what kind of ceremony the other lovely ladies are having though.

With regards to how many weddings they allow a day i am also concerned about this as it is a smaller resort so any past brides if you know the answer ........

I don't know that it was capped at one, but they didn't have a big staff to coordinate weddings, so I think they only do one a day. The entire week we were there, I think there was one other wedding.

I didn't love the white tent at first, but I really liked if for the actual day. It was a great shade for guests. When people have the four post covers, it's usually over the bride & groom, not the guests. The white tent was something I originally had on my Cons list, but ended up as something I was really happy they provided.

If the worst case scenario did occur and it rained all day - does anyone know where they hold the wedding inside? I have been to the hotel before but cant evisage where they would hold it as its not like they have a gazebo like some hotels I have seen. Just so as I am prepared if it did happen!

hi josie, lol yes england too! lol! well only about 10 of us going, maybe more but having a big reception when we get bk! what are u doing for a reception? i wanted to do a private reception as we have too small boys and wanted them to have freedom but the weddin co sent me some stuff about it and i cant remember if it said min no's 15 or 20 but i will email her bk...eventually lol! have u had ur wedding date confirmed? ours took ages! Also have u looked into photographers? Sorry Josie just nice to see someone from home going to same place as i have no idea wht im doin really lol xx

I too have no idea what i am doing at the moment just feel like i am plodding along pretty clueless. We still dont have our date confirmed we have booked through Thomson who have said they cannot get a date from the hotel until August 2010 but have requested the date of 24.01.11. Which is in keeping with the other ladies that are waiting for their date as well. If you look through this thread there is loads of info on either the private or non-private reception. But in the brochure it says maximum of 20 for a reservation in one of the restaurants and after that you have to have a private reception but i dont know if there is a minimum number for a private reception i do hope not as we want to pay that bit extra for the reception. We are having a big bash when we get back as well. Havent even looked into a photograpgher yet until I have my date confirmed - when was yours confirmed? Have you been to this hotel before? I went 3 years ago.

Hmmm...I knew the rain back up plan at one point. I think it's the pure chill out bar, which I think would be beautiful for a rainy wedding.

The bar is an open air place. I can't remember if it had curtains like the restaurants they could pull in the rain. I am pretty sure it did. it was rainy the few days before my wedding & they said if it rained, they'd set up in the other location, but I'm not 100% sure that was the backup spot. if it is, I think you'd be very happy with it. It's right on the beach.

Thanks for that Morgan - cause if that is the location that wouldnt be too bad cause as you say it is right on the beach and fingers crossed i am planning to have our private reception in there once my date is finalised so as a 'worse case scenario' im sure it would work out just fine. :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
