Has anyone gotten married at or is considering the Marina El Cid Hotel in Puerto Morelos for a wedding location?

Hi ORBEACHbride, I stayed at Marina El Cid a couple years ago over Christmas and it was awesome! The food was great (especially the mexican buffet), really nice rooms, the cliff jumping at the pool was a BLAST, and the staff was very friendly. My FI and I are getting married at Hacienda Tres Rios but we are switching to Marina El Cid for our honeymoon! When are you getting married?

Samantha88k, I am not getting married until 5/2013 we wanted to give our guests plenty of time and we wanted our kids, that are going with us, to be old enough to be involved and enjoy it. We have actually stayed at the El Cid and we loved it but I am so confused on the wedding planning part. I always go without expectations when I go on vacation that way when nothing goes as planned I am not upset. When it comes to my wedding, I want it to be great, I know things will go wrong but I have a vision and I want my vision to happen. I hear such good things about the wedding planner. Just want all the details I can get.

Hello I'm getting married at the marina el CID on january 23 2012 I got a email from Eva the wedding coordinator a couple weeks ago saying she had took a position with another company so I'm not sure who is the WC now I just emailed them to see I will let you know when I get more details. I was a little bummed because i heard how great Eva was so hopefully they found someone just as great to replace her.

I have heard that the new wedding planner is great as well but is learning the resort. I will be meeting with her the week of 1/8 as we are doing a site visit to finalize everything in person.

Hi! I will be getting married at this El Cid October of 2012 and would love to get any info you learned from meeting with the new WC? I have gone back and forth with her a couple times but it would be great to hear your feedback on how everything goes and any new info that you learned while finalizing all your details.

So my meeting with her personally was much better than going between in email. I have had a few email conversations since and have found that her english written is not very good and she seems to have a hard time understanding what I want when it is written out. When I met with her she seemed right on point showing me pictures of past weddings where they had done something very similar. It was neat when we were there I met 4 brides being wed that week and everyone was so nice to explain the experience and a couple even let us come to the wedding which was really fun and great to get to know so many new people. We chose to get married on the jetty, which was not my first choice, it is a long walk but so beautiful. It is windy out there so hair spray is a must, like maybe a whole bottle. All the flowers everyone used while we were there were very simple. I am not using fresh flowers except on tables so simple is good for me, but I have seen some vendor reviews on some amazing florists in Playa del Carmen if your looking for something more. I am not going with the onsite photographer and it will be $100 for the day to bring another photographer onsite. The other thing that was cleared up for me is that it is not extra to have a dinner set up at one of the resorts restaurants but you do have to have a set menu. If you choose to have your reception on the beach or on the lawn area it is extra per plate. That is all I have for now we are still working on other items for our reception, so I will keep posting.

Hi!  I will also be getting married at this El Cid at the end of October 2012.  I am SO glad to hear that your meeting with the WC was better than your e-mail correspondence because I have been a little worried about that.  And thanks so much for posting all the info that you learned while you were there.
