my poor fur babies

so we are having some pretty horrific weather today, tornados and thunderstorms-all that good stuff.

When I got home this afternoon it had stopped raining for a little bit and I tried to get the dogs to go outside, usually after being in thier crates all day they are very excited to go out, but my little girl kept trying to climb up my leg and just wanted to be held. She is walking around all slow and scared. She wants nothing to do with being outside and my boy refuses to go outside during the rain.

Anyone else have dogs scared of weather and what do you do to help them get through it?

I keep holding her and but she is just being quiet, so is my boy but he doesn't seem as freaked out. Luckily I get to be at home with them tomorrow all day so that will help, they love it when I am home with them. I always say I wish I could be a stay at home doggy mom.

My Daisy is afraid of the rain, but only in the back yard. She will hold it as long as physically possible (one day, she didn't go out at all util about midnight).

However, she's not afraid of going out in the front in the rain...what works with her (sometimes) is putting the leash on her and going into the back yard with her. For some reason, the yard is OK if she has the leash on...I wish I knew what goes through their heads.

My sisters dog hides under the bed ANYTIEM there's thunder, even if it's so far off that we can't hear her. The vet told her about sometihng called Calm, it's some kind of dog tea or something...it's expensive, but the vet said it works (I think you have to give it to them 20 or so min before the storm)

Try to give them a lot of treats to lead them the way, be patient, and constantly repeat it.

Give them a lot of courages, and tell them how good they are when they move towards the door or rain, even just tend to move motion!

Good luck!!

well luckily today is a nice sunny day and when I picked my DH up at the metro last night I took the dogs and they were so happy to go potty, I think the leash thing worked, they felt safer on the leash or something. So anyway all seems well today.

We have a similar problem with our dog, she just shakes when there is thunders.

Our vet suggested "chill out" pills but they are very strong and it breaks my heart to see her so sedated.

We looked into some homeopathic remedies ( I used to work in a Homeopathic pharmacy) but we haven't had much luck.

I went to a training class and they talked about doing this sort of wrapping to make them secure Tellington TTouch Training

My baby Jackson is not afraid of storms, but rather by beeping - strange really, beeping of the microwave, the oven (when it beeps as it comes to the set temperature) and especially the smoke alarm, when it is accidentally set off.

When he is afraid he tries to snuggle with me - my method to calm him is to literally offer to tuck him in on his bed - and that seems to calm him. He likes it when he is completely tucked in, and his eyes are covered - Sounds silly but it works!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
