My dress won't zip!...And I leave in 12 days!

Recommended Posts

I went in for my final fitting last night. All that was left to do was steam the dress and I'd be ready to go.

Well, the damn thing won't zip! It is almost there, but the seamstress said she didn't want to pull it up and risk breaking the zipper. I don't get it! I'm down 3 pounds from when I dropped it off!

I'm hoping it's just because I had Chinese food and beer on Monday night and I was just retaining water. SHe did say that when people get hot, they tend to swell. WTF am I supposed to do in Jamaica!?!

So, I need to lose a minimum of 5 pounds, preferably 10 so I can actually breathe, by next Wednesday. She's having me come in for a final final fitting and if she needs to, she can redo the back panel and re-configure the zipper. I'm sure it will cost me a fortune to do that!

If anyone has any crash diet tips, let me know! So far, I'm drinking water like crazy (I'm afraid I will pee in my pants!), I've cut out carbs, I plan to work out as much as I can but I have a TON of stuff to do before we leave. I might just have to clean the house in a plastic sweat suit!

I don't know how I'm not completely freaking out, but I'm pretty proud of myself. I hosetly think it is because I don't have time to have a breakdown right now!

Wow that is rough...not sure about the crash diet tips if you don't have much time. You need the bulging brides guys to come and save the day looks like. I'm not much help as I've only lost 1.5 lbs in 4 weeks of Biggest Loser :)

Maybe you were just bloated though?? I bet if you lose a few lbs and take some water pills you should be good ta go!!

Okay my wedding is only 7 days after yours and I also barely fit in my dress. We can do a crash diet together. I'm think no salt b/c it bloats, no alcohol, and no carbs. We will just have to suck it up together. Gym at least 5 days a week (we need to up the cardio) and only drink water. I think it will def help. Also, we are going to have to sacrifice and only eat small portions. Like really small. Yes people do swell in the heat unfortunately but I think its doable to lose at least 5 pounds. Maybe 8 if your lucky. Hopefully 10!

I am going to PM you everyday to make sure you stay on track. We can do this! cheer2.gif Your dress will fit and you will look amazing! I have faith!

Oh, Erin I am so sorry to hear that. My dress doesn't zip either, but for totally different reasons. :-(

I think you have a great plan, cut out the refined carbs and alcohol until the wedding. Try eating salads with fat-free dressing and limit cheese and drink your water. Watch out for hidden calories in foods (not all salads are good for you).

Good Luck, I'm sure you will look great on your big day!!!

I've never actually tried this crash diet thing, but my friend when she wants to lose weight quick doesn't eat any carbs or fat. Pretty much she eats lettuce, tomatoes, strawberries etc... but stays away from any fat like cheeses, or breads or veggies and fruit with high carb and sugar counts, and she can drop close to 10lbs in about a week. but its no fun doing it sad.gif

It just boggles my mind! It fit perfectly when I dropped it off!

The gym also has a sauna so that might be an option, sweat some of it off!

I'm also enforcing a strict no eating after 7pm rule and a you must eat breakfast rule.

Thanks Glenda! I know it can be done, it just sucks that we have to do it! I'll be good tonight and let you know what happens in the morning! I need some sit down exercises I can do while at my computer! I still have to do programs and iteneraries for all of the guests.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
