Cabo Hotels/Resorts... How soon to book?

Recommended Posts

I am planning a trip down to there in March or April to plan a May/June 08 wedding? Am I giving myself enough time? Did any of you book your hotel/resorts before traveling to see the places? Thanks, Amy

I will be booking my wedding resort and date before my site visit. But I'm doing the site visit in September 07 for a May 08 wedding.

I think you could definitly do your site visit and than start the booking process. You will still be a little over a year away from your actual date.

I have never even been to Cabo and I already booked my place. I don't know when I will be able to do a site visit, but I wanted to have a place booked. I don't think it will be a problem for you, since you are going next month and you will have more than a year until the time of your wedding.

A lot of people never see the place before they get there for their wedding - including me. I have booked everything, sigh unseen! I wish I would have had time for a site visit, but this wedding is planned purely over phone & email!

The wedding planner at the resort we were looking at said that they don't start booking (weddings or reservations) for 2008 until around June or July..... so we can't do anything until then......we could probably do a site visit but chances of that are slim to none! I'm sure you'll be totally fine

I signed my contract for my June 2007 wedding in April of 2006. I had already seen the resort. At the time I booked, I had my choice of 2 Saturdays in June. Hope this helps a little.

You should have plenty of time. You could always contact the resorts you are considering now to ask about availability in May/June 2008...might ease your mind a little.

Hi Amy. I booked my resort a year before my weddding. I can't seem to convince my FI to do a site visit but we heard a lot of good things about our resort from friends & family.

Aimee.

    • The cooking method can double the calorie content of a meal, so learn about healthy cooking without having to add extra fats, like using a steamer,  a rotisserie , a slow cooker , a pressure cooker, a grill. Once you cook your own meals, you can control the calorie content because your control the cooking method and all the ingredients. A lot of people are overweight because they keep eating food that they did not cook.
    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
    • My sister has done it but with the destination wedding, only super close family members and friends came since it was expensive and farther. It was great though.
